“Not cheap but fab duplex family room”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

Location is pretty good, although not a walk for us to beach... But free parking at beach so that was no problem! Lovely 5-10 min walk to town.
Room was really great, kids slept in upstairs bit and loved it! I was but nervous about them getting out at night and tripping downstairs! so remedied with a chair to block.

Downside was room not ready til 4.. We paid nearly 300 euro and had travelled along way so this was annoying! Breakfast was pretty good and catered for our 2 you g kids no problems.. Swimming pool was also a bonus!

Room.
1. No air conditioning. With the external corridor enclosed in glass and only a door to the outside the room became extremely hot. Must be unbearable in summer.
2. No drawers for storage of clothes. Nowhere to dry any wet clothes. Supplies meagre, we always had to ask for more milk. Check that any packets in fridge are full on arrival. Empty toblerone pack in fridge for which we were charged.
Pool.
Access door insecure. Supposed to be on key pad but always open. No lockable lockers. Access to pool via steep slippery steps dangerous when wet after showering. Not suitable for any elderly or disabled persons. No supervision or emergency call buttons. Only cctv camera.
Good points. Quiet location with a pleasant stroll into town. Staff helpful with excellent English. Restaurant and bar expensive compared with town. Plenty of parking.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn with my husband for the weekend. The hotel was very easy to find and was situated a little way (about 10 minutes walk) from the centre of Le Touquet. Whilst the check in was efficient the rooms were oddly situated just off the main corridor which did seem to have a noise issue. Although the rooms themselves were quite spacious a d the bathroom well appointed, I did feel like the place was very dated, and the bath (getting in and out) could cause issues for people with mobility problems.

Le Touquet itself was very pretty although very expensive. I have left a few other reviews for restaurants which you may find helpful. Avoid Le Paris Plage!!! The breakfast was very costly £17 and there wasn't very much variety unfortunately. There are plenty of boutique places to eat in town which are much better quality and price.

Overall an acceptable hotel but lacking any ambience unfortunately. It does seem to be frequented by a number of golfers.

I stayed here on a golfing holiday in March 2012. The hotel is clean, in a quiet location and the staff are very friendly. The beer in the bar is expensive but that is the same everywhere in Le Touquet. For the price we paid, I would recommend this hotel as its quiet, clean and well located.

Just returned from a 3 night mini break at the Holiday Inn in Le Touquet. We are a family of 4 and stayed in room 403 which is a mezzanine family room.

Good Points
The breakfast was quite nice with good service.
The room and hotel are quite spacious.
Reasonably good location for exploring the area.

Bad Points (aside from the bugs)
Rooms were a bit tired with old looking carpets.
Pool and jacuzzi were cold and changing rooms small.
Rooms were hot and stuffy at night with no air con.
Tennis court and table tennis table were in a shabbly state - we used the tennis club round the corner which was much better.
TV in second room didn't work - couldn't be bothered to complain as BBC World was the only english speaking channel anyway.

Now for the bugs...........
We stayed 3 nights. After the first night I had about 20 bites on my body but wasn't sure where they had come from as we had been in the woods and by the pool. The 2nd night was horrendous. I got no sleep and woke with 92 bites all of which swelled up and caused me much discomfort and distress. We could not find a pharmacy that was open as it was a holiday in France so words cannot describe how much pain I was in, it completely wrecked our break.

We complained and some staff examined the room and agreed that there were bed bugs - we were moved just 2 doors down and offered a refund for 1 of our 3 nights. I complained that this was insufficient as I had been eaten by the bugs for 2 nights. The manager was not keen but agreed (perhaps because I was discussing bed bugs loudly at reception??).

In my view this is all a bit shoddy. The Holiday Inn was not cheap at around £300 per night for our family. The staff were not at all concerned about my wellbeing, didn't ask whether we were happy in our new room and basically were not interested. I think the compensation offered was poor and did little to make up for the discomfort I have suffered. If it had been my hotel, I would be mortified by what happened and would treat the poor affected guests like VIPs.

We now have the task of trying to decontaminate all our things and we will be throwing out our suitcases as advised - if these bed bugs have followed us home we will have a bill of thousands of pounds to sort it all out.

You've been warned!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Don't go near room 403

hjb00123,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a candid review. I assure you bed bugs are not a sanitary issue and IHG takes these concerns seriously. We recommend that our hotels undergo routine preventative procedures to guard against bed bugs. In the event that bed bugs are discovered, we recommend that the hotel's pest control specialists act to ensure that the bugs are eradicated and if necessary, the hotel discards and replaces all affected furniture and linens. Additionally, we recommend the guest room is taken out of service until the hotel is advised that the guest room is pest free. I have sent you a private message to obtain more information about your stay. I look forward to hearing from you and being of further assistance.

Le Touquet is a nice town to visit anytime of year.
Easy to get to from the UK as it's a short drive from the ferry ports or the Eurotunnel. It's a relatively upmarket residential area with lots of beautiful homes, but it also has a huge beach that I believe is used for many events thoughout the year.
We have been a number of times for day trips and also have stayed at the HI on a couple of occasions.
The town is a nice place to explore for a day or two and in the evening there are enough bars and restaurants to make 3 or 4 nights quite easy. Beyond that it may be more of a case of visiting your favourite place as opposed to exploring as you've probably covered it all.
The hotel offers a good location just on the edge of town, enough space to park free and close enough to stroll into town.
We had a mezzanine room which is surprisingly spacious. The hotel bar/restaurant is a nice place to have a late drink when you return from the day/night.
The staff were exceptionally friendly too and even managed to understand my very poor French altho most do speak English too.
The pool is nicely situated outside and when the sun shines it does get very warm even outside of the summer.
Overall it was good value and a good location in a pretty town. If you're feeling adventurous it is a good base to explore further - in the summer we've been down to the river at Abeville which is a lovely place to explore and then rest by the river with some local Moules (mussels), closer is Montreuil which is like stepping back into 1930/40's France and again worth a day out as are many other towns and villages.
However, using this hotel as your base is a really good start point and if you only get as far as Le Touquet town and the beach you'll still have a very enjoyable visit.
If you need anymore info. feel free to contact me directly.

Room Tip: We've bee in 2 different one's and both have been fine.

I stayed in the Holiday Inn in March 2012 whilst on a golfing weeekend with friends. We were lucky enough to bag a mezzanine room which is an ideal twin room setup - 2 double beds one of which is up a small flight of stairs on a mezzanine level allows an unexpected level of privacy. I'd definitely ask for one of these again if we were on the same type of trip. Room was modern, clean and tidy with a matching bathrom.

We used the hotel pool and jacuzzi on both nights - no complaints at all, helps to relax after a day on the golf course.

Breakfasts were okay, a good range - but some of the hot breakfast items (scrambled eggs and beans) were cold. Nice selection of pastries made up for this though.

Didn't try the hotel restaurant for dinner, instead we headed into town which is less than 5 minutes drive and there is a wide selection of places to eat.

Room Tip: Mezzanines are a great twin room option if you can grab them for the same price as a standard twin.
