Had to ask for bread. Service was slow and offhand . Food portions small and rae wing looked like it was trimmings stuck together. Will not return.

“Excellent Value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2013

I had foie gras to start with served with onion marmalade and brioche. Then we all has mussels at this point I started to suffer 'food envy' as one of my fellow diners had them in a local light cheese sauce which was delicious whereas the rest of us had marinere which to be honest I found a little watery. Also, all the mussels were quite small. This is the only reason this place did not get an excellent. The staff were very friendly, the prices were very reasonable and as for the desserts! They were amazing (see the photos!) The dessert described simply at 'Chestnut' was a chestnut mousse wrapped in a blackcurrant jelly served with blackcurrant ice cream and meringue fingers amazing!

“A little jewel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013

We live in France & as always you do not often explore very far from your own front door. Friends were coming to stay and expressed an interest in visiting Le Touquet, we decided on Saturday as apparently there was a market. We wanted to ensure we were guaranteed a reservation so booked La Petite Charlotte, after popping over to Le Touquet to personally select a good restaurant. This one appealed to us as it is slightly off the main restaurant street, close to the beach where you need yo park and it looked small, unassuming and very home style. Our waiter spoke perfect English, accommodated myself with Gluten Free. We all opted for mussels, I went with local cheese and cream and my friend commented ' he had food envy', although his were good. The frites were included in the price or a salad. The crowning glory were the desserts, works of art and mine was tailored to be Gluten a Free, without any fuss. The bill was reasonable, 1 starter, 4 mains, 4 puds and a bottle of wine, plus they were happy to serve a carafe of tap water and no expensive bottled water. It was 30 euro a head, which for Le Touquet is very reasonable, plus it was a culinary delight. A real little jewel.

“Superb smoked salmon”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013

My wife and I lunched here on our way to a short holiday in another part of France. Service was very good, staff friendly and spoke quite good English (much better than my french anyway).
Had a glass of their raspberry fizz to start with and very good it was too. Followed with an absolutely superb smoked salmon and pate de foie gras starter. Apparently their own home smoked salmon.
My wife's fish dish was excellent, salmon again, but my duck dish was frankly disappointing. Very little duck and the potato topping was luke warm in parts. Followed with an excellent cheese course.
Good choice of wines, served by the bottle, pichet or glass.
Nice experience but not outstanding.

“Reassuringly consistent”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2013

We've been going here for decades and it never lets us down. Nothing flashy, good consistent bougeoise cooking. More than competent service and keen pricing. But please, ditch the sea shore sounds at the door.
