An absolute fantastic day trip away from the busy Paris. We were lucky with beautiful weather, and had a nice and slow walk from the train station to the Grandes Ecuries. On the race court! After a visit to the museum and horses in the stable we had an outdoor lunch overlooking the castle and beautiful green landscape. After lunch we went to the specatular horse show. All in all a very nice and relaxing day.

We didn't linger too long, but the exhibits were fascinating and well-done. The rooms themselves were reason enough to walk through. We are horse lovers, and the Musee was a pleasure!

The horse show was magical and very entertaining to watch. The horses and other animals who performed did a great job and it was definitely something different than the usual touristy attraction

Less than an hour from the Gare du Nord in Paris, this is a must for horse lovers. It is a loooong but very pleasant walk from the station and the signs are not very clear, but if you ask at the Office du Tourism near the station they will give you a map and directions. Sometimes the signs are for the stables (Ecurie) and sometimes for the museum but they are both the same, which adds to the confusion finding the place. The stables are more like a palace than stables and are enormous. The parkland and racecourse surroundings are beautiful.

The stables themselves were a bit disappointing (only a very few horses) but the museum is very well done and interesting if you're into horses, or even if you're not. The show was not on the day we were there.

There is a nice looking snack bar but that's all it was so we went elsewhere for lunch (see review of the excellent Le Vertigudin).

Thank What

First, the show is all in French which is not a problem as they are talking about the horse and you can get the idea. However this is a very popular show for the kids and they had to stop the show many times to settle the kids down. (The horses couldn't hear the commands)
It is also a very basic show. Seems that it is more suited for children. But if you like horses they have a few ponies and toy horses as well.
