“Fantastic friendly place - eat in or out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2012

Ate here last year sitting outside in glorious sunshine. Ate inside this year but food still lovely and service friendly and speedy. Food well cooked, rich and plentiful and pichets of wine only 15 euros.

“Quality food - but at a central paris\London 5* price”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2012

We visited Vertugadin on a cold Friday night, and as soon as we entered it was a warm and welcoming plave - more like a Bistro than a Restaurant. We were greeted by the owner who seemed a slightly eccentric, but friendly and knowledgable, owner and i can see why another reviewer has said "Chantilly royalty" - but in a nice way.
We paid 160 euros for a 3 course meal and 2 glasses of wine each - from the a La Carte menu. The goats cheese starter wrapped in courgette was outstanding, the fish was boned and the steak was excellent for main course; and the deserts of Profiteroles and apple Pie were exceleltn and huge. So overall the food quality was excellent - presented in a simple manner - and indeed, too much food. we could have existed on 2 courses quite easily!.
The starters and deserts at 14 euros each were just too expensive for what they were - and overall a price around the 120 euros mark would have given it a higher rating from me.
Would I go back?
yes I would, but I would choose from the set menu (30 euros per person for 3 courses I think) as the quiality of food is so good, I am sure the set menu would have been great and satisfying.
The interior does mix modern leather chairs with slightly lower tables for an informal experience by the fire, to the more traditional table and chairs. And I loved the traditional crescent bar with coffee machine at it etc.
As I say, a great experience with lovely food and friendly service. Shame about the Michelin star central paris\London prices on the a La Carte for an area and experience that does not warrant that. .

“Expensive but well worth the experience!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2011

Restaurant owned by the Chantilly "royalty" and the visit to the interior is well worth the
ticket price of dinner. We paid 10 Euros for two cups of coffee, but we were able to enjoy the ambiance and the richness of the interior which is beautiful. Closed on Sunday and Mondays.

“Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2011

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel as serving light food, in quiet surroundings. We ate in the garden, to the back, so can't comment on the indoor part, though in passing I noted it looked cosy, with a big fireplace. The garden was covered by awnings and surrounded by bamboo - pleasantly atmospheric and the light rain was not a problem. The piped music was loud, but we were able to sit away from the speakers. There was a North African theme to the restaurant. The waitress was helpful and spoke some English. Prices were fairly high - typical of Paris rather than rural France but food was good, uncomplicated and fresh. There was a good choice of fish and tagines and the waitress was able to describe those fish we were unfamiliar with. Overall, good.
