First built in the 13th century (approx 1268 A.D.) by Christoffer I, the Danish Royal Castle Koldinghus is located in ... yes, you guessed it, Kolding Denmark. Even though this castle has undergone many renovations throughout the centuries, the oldest remnant still standing was built by Christoffer III in 1441-1448.
The castle grounds aren't nearly as wow-inspiring as the tour of the castle itself. Inside, you'll see many artifacts, including furniture, jewelry, works of art, etc. One of the most interesting facets of the tour include a glimpse of the original structure from the 1400's.
I suppose you can say that if you've been in one castle, you've been in them all. Not so with Koldinghus.
Words can't describe the feeling of historical significance found within the walls of Koldinghus. Truly a step back in time.
