I spent a day at the lakes and was determined to see the caves too as I had seen a few adverts & leaflets for them. They are about a 15min drive from the lakes and are well worth a visit. The tour is guided and available in several different languages, and takes about 45minutes, the history is very interesting and the caves beautiful, the cavern that opens up at the end is amazing. The original cave bottom fell away during an earthquake years ago and the cave gapes down into the darkness with lots of stalagtites hanging down from above.
You are given a plastic hat to wear and it is a good idea to wear a sweater as it is quite cool in the caves after being in the Croatian sun!
Depending on what time the caves close, get there at least an hour before to give yourself time to enjoy before they close.. If you want to spend longer I think there were forest walks and a picnic area but we didnt have time as just a quick end of the day visit.
