went there for a prolonged weekend with friends.

- excellent reception - very friendly staff, especially the ladies where extremely friendly and welcoming.
- very comfortable rooms with enough space - some with view towards river others towards church/basilica of Maria Taferl and village center
- bathrooms with shower (no bathtub) and all accessories (hairdryer etc.)
- no noise in the rooms
- super clean everywhere
- very modern and nice ambience
- magnificent terrace for breakfast and lunch/dinner - view over the valley with danube river
- breakfast service - over complete - too much to mention (incl. cook for ham&eggs etc,), several fresh fruit juices
- sky bar with phantastic view over the danube river - barkeeper prepares nice cocktails too.
- penthouse pool (not too big) and whirlpool with relaxing chairs overlooking the danube river and valley
- dinner and lunch in the hotel where well prepared and very tasty, local schnapps (40 - 50%) - ate only twice there.
- very nice wine selection which is to be expected from the region.
- it is a long time that we had such well educated staff in a hotel, always friendly and looking to satisfy the needs of guests - congrats to the management of the hotel.
- good area for hiking/biking and golf players (golf course just 5 - 10 min walk)

to be honest i cannot write about any negative point as we had a great 3 days there and i would strongly recommend this hotel to any group of people/friends as well as family.

Room Tip: would recommend a room with view of danube river.

If you want a quiet relaxing trip in the Danube region, then this is the answer. We've overnighted there for a friend's wedding and brunch the next day. The food was outstanding, service even better, rooms very clean and comfortable. Extremely children-friendly with a nice playground and in summer the pool is filled. The area is so quaint and the Basilica Maria Taferl is breath-taking.
Totally recommend this hotel. Plus also is the Danube region local wines.... so good!

Having been charmed by the view from here during workshops, I returned again for a short stay with family a couple of years ago and yet again for a long weekend alone this February. I received a friendly welcome from reception staff and was shown to my panorama room in the Krone House (the more attractive of the two hotels that comprise Hotel Schachner) by a lady who offered to carry my case. The room was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortably furnished as expected. Despite the bitter cold outside, I found the room a little too warm at night and had to get up to adjust the heating. The wireless internet access was slow and unreliable - frustrating and virtually useless. A lightbulb in my room was broken, which I reported to reception and it was promptly replaced.
Although the restaurant staff were busy with a large party the service at dinner was surprisingly fast and polite. However the range of dishes on the menu left a lot to be desired. I dined there on three consecutive evenings and had the same two soups to choose from each time. The range of vegetarian and fish dishes was also limited and not particulary good. The so called 'Gedeck' consisted of the same white bread, salami, butter and the same spread each evening. I would therefore not want to spend a whole week there or I'd be bored to distraction with the evening meals. The wines on the other hand were excellent as one would expect in this region. The presence of a couple of barking dogs in the restaurant on two occassions was not pleasant or suitable for this price category in my view.
The breakfast buffet was wonderful and included delicious cakes including an excellent poppy seed cake.
The sauna area was small but adequate for my needs on this occassion. The speakers in the relax room were faulty and crackled loudly when the music stopped and were left to do so for hours- not relaxing and nobody seemed to check on this. The swimming pool and whirlpool were enjoyable with adequate seating and panoramic poolside views but the promised tea and fruit in the bar during the late afternoon were removed well before the time indicated on the sign announcing their availability. The adjacent fitness room was good. The relaxing massage lived up to its name. There is a range of hiking routes directly behind the hotel, which I would recommend.
The lady who checked me out was exceedingly friendly and helpful, even offering to help me free my car from snow and she insisted on carrying my rather heavy case to the car although I would have been happy to drag it on wheels. I would return but for no more than three nights due to the limited range if meals and not in a busy winter holiday season due to the small sauna area.
