“GOOD HOTEL”
Reviewed September 29, 2010

Very good hotel, good location and staff could not be more helpful we had two interconnecting rooms which were really spacious so basically cannot comment on any negative reviews as we stayed for 2 x days without any hiccups and would definately stay there again.

Stayed at this hotel for a wedding function which was being held in the Pyramid Suite.

Nice and Comfortable, i would say it was the similar room layout and size as a premier inn hotel. Clean and airy and there was plenty of room to put your luggage. Bathroom was reasonable too but the shower was weak. Room could have done with a new kettle and hairdryer, they looked old and shabby.

The decor is lovely out in the reception, but a bit old (lift broke on the way down).

Breakfast buffet was declious, there was a selection of cerals, fruit and yogurts & full english breakfast. Tea & Coffee was served in pots to the table and the staff was friendly and efficient.

Overall, i would recommend staying here, it's very close to the town centre of Saint Helens so ideal for those who are visiting there.

Located in the centre of St Helens, right next to Tesco. So if you need to be in St Helens then its perfect however if you want to go Manchester or Liverpool there are definately better hotels out there!

Looked nice in foyer when I turned up, thought I would fore go prem inn or the other standard hotels and try something new.

Staff were friendly, however.............

Went to the first room, and it smelt really damp and there was a lot of mould on the tile grout in the bathroom so I requested a move. I was moved one door down to a smell free room. The room was clean, but the mattress was horrible and you could feel the bed frame through it. I had really bad back pain the next day and there was a constant sound of running water all night. Might explain the damp smell in the room next door.

Tried out the swimming pool which was nice and had a jacuzzi, definately a leisure pool as you cant really swim a length due to the shape but was lovely after a days work. Yet there were little bits that showed that the budget for maintenance was not there- the atrium was cool to look up and see the sky but then you would see the peeling ceiling tiles.

Had a drink in the bar in the evening, which was lit really lovely and had a nice feel to it with comfy chairs.

Had breakfast, which was ok- not worth £10.00 for a buffet breakfast but never mind- work was paying for it.

Staff were all friendly, and gave me a discount on the room due to the bad nights sleep. I unfortunately will not go back to this hotel.

Staff were second to none but the dirt and grime was not good. Ate in the Hotel and our meal was good nice selection at breakfast but sitting at breakfast could not avoid the edges of the table dirty floor dirty carpet didnt look that it had cleaned! All this for £85 a night! Glad my company paid coz there is no way I would.

I admin that the decor is a bit dated and some of the beds (202) are uncomfortable, however.

The room service and Bar menu is excellent and very competatively priced, the team from reception to the bars are uber friendly. There is always a welcome smile and greeting from the minuite you walk through the doors. It does get warm in the summer and hopefully the aircon will be fixed by 2012.

Breakfast is excellent and full help your self service, Tony is always on hand to greet you with a Chirpy Good Morning and top up of tea.

I can live with the outdated decor as long as the St Helens team are always friendly and welcoming if they were not I have no Idea where I would stay.
Keep up the great atmosphere and I keep coming back

Stayed here many times. OK nothing special, seen better days, but clean and tidy. However my last 2 stays they have not had any hot water. Needless to say I won't be staying there again.

Good location in the centre of St Helens and easy to find. The indoor pool, spa and sauna were nice features and all in good condition. Breakfast was the standard buffet spread but was fresh and tasty. Check in, restaurant and cleaning staff were all very helpful and friendly. Only negative is that the room was basic and the bathroom was in need of a refurb and the bed was quite hard.
