“melt in your mouth meat dishes.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2013

The meat at the Limassol is always first class, whether you choose kebab or casseroled, so tender it just breaks as you show it your knife. The choice is varied and the warm bread with dips for starters is gorgeous, make sure you leave enough room for your main meal! Good value and excellent staff.

“A traditional Greek fayre”

Limasol's has maintained a good quality of food and service for many years and is excellent for a party or celebration.
The greek nights and early doors menu are worth trying

“Tasty Food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

Visited as a large group mid week. The menu offered lots of choice. Service was very slow, arrived at 8 and didnt leave til 11 - as starters took a long time to appear.

Food on the whole was good. Had a spinach/Feta pie as a starter and moussarka main (recommended). Found it strange that wedges and rice came with all dishes. Wedges tasted off chip fat, think the fryer needed an oil change.

Would have been nicer if an assortment of breads with greek dips could be offered during the long wait for food.. Overall would return.. Place was very quiet (but it was mid-week).

“nice place v clean pleasant staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2013

staff lovely, place looks authentic and it is v clean. The stairs are a worry - nobody with a wheelchair or indeed any mobility issues would be able to go here as the stairs are too steep. When you come out of the front door after you have precariously come down those stairs, glad that you have not had a lot to drink, there is an extremely dangerous step down to your right and I am sure quite a few people over the years must have come a cropper after a few wines. The house red was nice and the garlic bread with cheese lovely, warm and fluffy. The ice cream is not good quality ice cream it is tainted and has ice crystals, the no frills type. The Moussaka is strange. I expected an individual fairly large dish and thought the lamb would be moist, succulent and a dark brown colour. Myself and two others ordered the same and to think that those three dishes alone would be £34 ish altogether is just wrong. Being brutally honest when they arrrived my heart sank a little and I truly thought that I hoped they tasted better than they looked, i.e. insipid. The three dishes came identical in a perfect and deep square shape as though the chef had made it is a huge school dinners type v deep pan and cut it into squares. The lamb tasted like very ground down cheap pork with very little flavour and was dry and pale. The amount of potato and aubergines was very minimal and the bechamel sauce was tainted and artificial tasting. It was rubbery and certainly not very cheesy or sumptuous. It tasted like prison food - not that I have ever spent time at Her Majesty's pleasure but that is what it reminded me of. I have had Moussaka before from Tesco and Asda - i.e. "Extra Special" ranges - it is expensive and comes in a small portion for two to share so is a rare treat but that from the supermarkets was far more authentic and home made tasting and looking than these "squares". I would have ordered a steak but for a back street restaurant in St Helens nearly £19 for a steak is just not reasonable. I think for fillet steak in a place such as this £14.95 would be nearer the mark. The Mezze was lovely and the squid served v hot and fresh. I would go again especially for the early bird but when you are paying full price I felt the menu was overpriced. For £11.70 for a portion of Moussaka it should be drop dead gorgeous and it just wasn't.
