Wow ... This place has really changed, for the better.

Food is really good, nice menu and lots to pick from.

Its also alot tidier than it used to be definetly, clean carpets and toilets.

The Staff are really friendly and helpfull even in busier times which is mainly the weekends when they have a band on most Saturdays.

I will be back indeed.

After a year or so closed its nice to see this historic pub reopened once more. Its always been a traditional town pub with a lot of character in the building and layout which, in a town full of soulless modernised pubs is no bad thing. Personally I've no idea why you waould paint a pub a peach colour but has made the place look a little tidier from the outside I suppose.

The layout inside is thankfully still the same, seperate space off the main bar for a couple of darts boards and a pool table and a back room where they now serve food. Don't be put off if you look in from the road and see an empty bar - everyone will be in the back room, I sometimes think they should give people a discount to sit in the front bar window to make the place look a bit busier as no one wants to be the only one in the pub.

Anyway we had a friendly welcome from the bar staff who all seemed upbeat and ready to help, the menu is a Marstons one I think, good value and the food we were served was very tasty and well cooked. For my taste the beer choice was a bit lacking on the real ale front but they've not long opened so I'm hoping things might change. The had the normal selection of largers and what have you.

In the better weather theres a decent garden out the back which is a bit of a sun trap, used to be well planted and cared for but it was left to run down by previous owners so I'm hoping with the new life in the place the garden will be a well run as the pub seems to be now.
