“Overall good experience”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

We visited for Afternoon Tea with my elderly parents. Overall it was good value for money and a pleasant experience. There was a nice range of sandwiches but I think they could improve on their cake selection. When we went into the tea rooms there were some delicious cream cakes on sale but sadly our cakes on the tea stand were all quite heavy. The scones were lovely and what is expected but then there were chunks of fruit cake, a thick slice of lemon drizzle cake and a very, very thick and hard ginger cookie. We left very full (in fact took the ginger cookies home for our son who has much more robust teeth than any of us!) but would have lovely a bit of dainty Victoria sponge or similar. A couple of other small points were that as we had booked our 'teas' had been prepared and some of the bread had started to go slightly hard. One of the ladies serving was quite 'scary' and gruff when clearing away from tables around by us - my mum started to worry we had been there too long and we left earlier than we wanted to. Overall a good experience and the one lady serving was delightful and welcoming.

“How beautiful”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

this tea room is run by lovely freindly staff and provides beautiful homemade cakes and scones. The soup and sandwiches were delicious and the portion size was great. The manager seemed very passionate about what he does talking me through the wonderful selection of teas and coffees that they stock. I didn't realize that you do not need to visit the museum to use this tearoom which is great as it means that i can visit here lots of times. I shall definitely recommend it to my friends

“Loose leaf tea winner”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

The mismatching tea cups and saucers are really cute, and the loose leaf tea is delicious. We had sandwiches and soup between us and the bread was very fresh and delicious.
