“Noisy during the night.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2011

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times, but this visit was a problem.
The one night we were waken at 03.00 by guest banking doors and the following night at 02.00. Did complain to the reception but was told a family was staying above us and they now checked out.
On a previous stay like normally we checked the bed to find the mattress was badly stained. In fairness they did bring four men in to change it.

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with some feedback after your recent stay with us, your time is appreciated. I was sorry to read that your stay was marred by some noisy 'neighbours' please do accept my apologies for other people's inconsiderateness. The next time you do stay with us, please do let me know personally and apart from sorting a good deal for you, perhaps we can allocate you a room on the first floor?
I have spoken to my housekeeper about the bed stain and it has been taken out of service and replaced with a new one. We did have a chat about the need for us to find such things before our customers do!
My thanks once again for your time and my apologies for the noise. The next time you are staying, I trust we may get to meet in person,

With Regards

We live locally and have stayed in this Hilton a few times over the past month due to building works on our house. We have stayed in both the standard room and a suite.

Not too impressed and think the hotel needs some work to get it up to the standard I would expect from a Hilton.

Positives: Rooms are fine and nicely decorated and are a very good size. Showers worked well and very powerful. The suites are large with a good living area with complimentary wine (2x small) and chocolates and fruit, however, this was not replenished during our 4 night stay. Breakfast good.

Negatives: £5 per day parking and it's not even in a central location - there's no need for them to charge at all. Food and drink very expensive in bar, room service and coffee shop. Had a very mediocre carvery one Sunday evening at an extortionate £14. Also ordered sandwiches from room service late one evening and they were awful. Bar area is very dated and scruffy - chairs and carpet worn and filthy. Internet is £15 per day.

Gym/pool - good sized pool and quiet when I visited. I believe it is soon being re-furbished, which it is needed - there was gravelly bits in certain areas of the pool where the pipes were.

We've also been staying at the Holiday Inn Bromsgrove which I would recommend over the Hilton. Free parking, free wifi in public area, but pool much smaller.

Having booked a two night stay in a deluxe room with travel zoo I was impressed with the value for money.
It was a great location. The bus to Birmingham stopped just outside. £4.50 return.
The desk staff were great very helpful and answered all our questions.
The room was large and the two queen beds led to a great nights sleep. The hotel was busy but that did not detract from peace in the room. Deluxe mean't half a bottle of wine, water and robes all of which were put to good use.
The leisure centre allowed us to have a work out in the gym, swim in the pool and use of steam room and sauna. All of which were on the whole quiet.
Had a meal at the hotel on the first night and found the food to be of a high standard.
Breakfast on saturday morning (1030hrs) was a bit manic. The help yourself hot buffet was not replenished. Staff were very helpfull. This was not repeated at the same time on sunday when the choice was great.
A great location. In easy reach of Birmingham and Worcester. No need to use the car.

Liked:- Variety of quality hot and cold breakfast items available including great pancakes (very similar to Dutch pannekoken style), decent sized rooms with a desk, easy to find, very courteous and efficient front desk staff, non stop checkout procedure.
Disliked:- Room had obviously not been hovered on arrival with some balls of fluff clearly visible, still not hovered after our first night, décor in the rooms was quite dull with a brown wall and matching décor, £3.95 for a litre bottle of water that was already on the table in the hotel room, £15 charge to use the internet in the room, no list of television channels, service clearing empty crockery at breakfast very slow.

We stayed at the Hilton Birmingham Bromsgrove for 2 nights this month (May 2011) as friend was marrying nearby and many other wedding guests were staying here, so location was very useful.

We got good rates on Expedia.co.uk

For residents, parking is reducued to £5 per day - make sure you get reception to validate your ticket on arrival so you can come and go as you need to.

Check-in staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel reception has a Costa coffee bar in it, the main hotel bar is on a level just below. The hotel has a travelling businessmen feel about it, rather than somewhere you'd choose to take a break or normal Hilton quality you'd expect (I've stayed in many).

Rooms split over two floors, walls very thin, you could hear your neighbours and everything in the hall ways. When I walking in the hall way I could clearly hear our neighbour having a wee!!!

The room was very disappointing, as a 4* Hilton, it was a below average size, basic facilities (kettle was broken/dirty from someone making coffee in it!)
Curtains were not black out or even covering the entirity of the windows, so woke me earlier than hoped for.
Bed was too hard even for me and i like a firm bed. Bed linen was tired and poor quality.

Bathroom was huge let down, very dated and slightly grim feeling, very old style bath & shower combo, poor water pressure, plastic shower curtain - bathroom more suited to a NHS hospital, with rubber bath floor mat.
Nice Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries.

TV was nice and room service was helpful and prompt - room service drink prices were very steep though - more like a top London 5*.
Bar staff was very sweet and accomodating to our family group who wanted late drinks in the bar area.

Breakfast was was very standard and overpriced, if not included in your room rate, just left under heat lamps and not very appealing.

I had intended to use the pool and gym but after seeing the bathrooms and general condition of hotel, I wasn't really in the mood.

On a whole, the staff were great and it suited us perfectly location wise and the other guests made it good fun but I still feel let down, maybe my expectations are too high...?
the hotel needs a good face lift and freshening up to deserve the 4* rating and Hilton branding.

We stayed here for 1 night as a last minute getaway, having decided to take the kids to West Midlands Safari Park (20mins drive away). The room was perfect for us. We have a 4yr old and a 20month old who is still in a cot. The room had 2 queen beds and easily fit a cot in without it all been a squash. The room was modern and had everything we needed and was very clean. The bathroom was small but we spent very little time in there!!! The receptionist gave the kids an activity pack each when they arrived and a little duck for the bath which was nice.We used the pool which was great for the kids even though it was a little deep in the shallow end. Jacuzzi lovely and warm! We didn`t eat in the hotel in the end even though the kids would have eaten free as the restaurant didn`t open until 6.30pm which was too late for them. We could however have eaten in the bar at any time. The restaurant is actually the same room as used for breakfast so is functional and not very special so we were not that bothered about not eating there. We ended up going out and found a pub nearby. Breakfast was excellent and we all ate more than enough to keep us going.

We have stayed here before. Nice atmosphere and staff very friendly. We only stayed for 1 night but breakfast was good and room very comfortable. Took advantage of the facilities and used the pool etc.
Would go back.
