Owner description: Painshill is a beautiful award-winning 18th century landscape garden in Surrey. The 158 acre wonderland has something for everyone and makes a great family day out. Discover the mystical follies, historic plantings, the John Bartram Heritage Collection of North American trees and shrubs (Plant Heritage, NCCPG), and some of Surrey's amazing wildlife. You can spend a whole day at Painshill or there are shorter accessible routes around the Serpentine Lake. Dogs on short leads are welcome. Bring a picnic or visit Hamilton's Tea Room. Visit the Painshill Shop for gifts, greeting cards and to buy Painshill English Sparkling Wine.

“Lovely parkland; a nice day out.”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

The parkland is expansive, about 150 acres, with a number of lovely walks (including an accessibility one for those with mobility issues or young kids), with "follies", including a lovely lake with lots of ducks, a vineyard, a ruined abbey, a gothic temple, an amazing crystal grotto, chinese bridge, waterwheel, hermitage, gothic tower and turkish tent. Nice place to picnic, but bear in the mind there aren't many bins and bathroom facilities are only available in two locations in the park. Not many flowering shrubs, but some nice vistas. Teashop was a bit expensive and the service was a bit on the slow side.

“Beautiful Park”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Beautiful vista of lakes and parkland. Excellent for a 2-3 mile walk right around the park (or a much shorter one for families). Nice good-value teashop.

“Beautiful at any time of year”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Painshill Park is local to me and I always enjoy a walk round the lake, Look up and see the egyptian geese roosting in the trees. It is dog friendly so dogs on leads are welcome. The views across to the follies are stunning and if you want a longer walk go up to the tower.

“An enjoyable day out”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

I last visited Painshill in the winter when it was dark and grey, so it was nice to return in June and see everything looking so green. There are not many flowers here, so don't expect the sort of blooms you find down the road at Wisley, but the variety of the scenery and the various "follies" make this an enjoyable place to visit.
We had a snack in the restaurant afterwards which was very good.
Recommened.

“Scenery great, restaurant/coffee shop not the best”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

Painshill Park itself was a large area with enough space to feel like you can get away from other people (much larger than Claremont) and with quite a lot to see and do. It's a very nice setting.

The Restaurant was a different story, it very much felt like seeing a customer was a bit of a suprise for the staff. The food took quite a while to be served despite the place being nearly empty. You do get a 10% discount if you are a member (I think Family membership is £45 for a year - you can reclaim your entry fee (£6.50 per adult) on that day so you can always try it out first).
