“Extremely enjoyable evening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2014

Great setting with lovely views out to the cathedral or to the well kept gardens to the rear. Nice decoration, very tasteful. Overall a really pleasant eating environment. service was efficient and unobtrusive, the young girls were all clearly well trained in their art. Fabulous choice on the dinner menu with added specials. Some interesting and unusual choices and a good variety for vegetarians. The lemon and lime creme brulee was delicious. We all had three courses which were thoroughly enjoyed be all, absolutely delicious. Wine and coffee were also part of the meal, again very good. The bill was reasonable for three. A great meal out with a a return visit a definite.

“Really good lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2014

Only passing through Dunblane looking for lunch stop. Chanced upon this - doesn't look like a hotel/restaurant from the outside. We weren't sure about having much more than a snack, but were seduced by the lunch menu. I had lamb, chilli and mint meatballs from the specials board - OH had fish and chops. The sandwiches also looked excellent. Would really liked to have managed a dessert as the descriptions on the menu were very tempting.

Lovely view from our window table over the cathedral grounds. Cherry blossom in flower, and sun shining. Pleasantly busy on Tuesday lunchtime, and the service was excellent. We were slightly worried that we would end up taking up too much time on our day-long journey, but the food came in good time, and was very tasty.

Set back off on our journey - very happy with full stomachs and a resolution to come again.

“Satisfactory”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014 via mobile

Visited with a few friends recently, the food was ok!! The burger was dry and the coleslaw was off we think, it tasted funny. The girl offered to change the slaw but we past, we would have said about the burger but nobody came back to the table and asked if everything was ok. There was 7 staff members and 5 standing around the bar area just chatting, it wasn't very professional. We never got offered any more drinks at all throughout the evening. It was an ok evening but I won't be back soon..

“Pleasant and relaxing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2014 via mobile

I ate here for lunch with a friend last Monday 14 April 2014. It was quite empty when we first arrived around 12.30 pm but it soon filled up nicely.

Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. Service was efficient. We both decided to have two starters each, as we were eating a main meal in the evening. We chose the same, the carrot and coriander soup, and the Haggis dumplings. The soup was beautiful, very tasty and most enjoyable. I felt the two slices of Mhor bread which accompanied the soup was rather dry and tasteless, but as I was with a friend I didn't make any remark.

The haggis dumplings were so very delicious, served with a tasty dressing and green salad. We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc at the start of our meal, and this was produced immediately with an ice bucket. Plus a jug of chilled water and slices of lemon.

The atmosphere was very pleasant, and it is a delight to be able to view the beautiful Cathedral and lovely grounds, from the upstairs restaurant windows. Although the restaurant was quite busy, there was no pressure to leave our table at anytime. We ordered two excellent Americanos with hot milk on the side, and the coffee was excellent, plus the charming little extra of homemade tablet (fudge).

We had an excellent lunch, and ended up leaving 3 hours after we first sat down as I said, no pressure from the staff to vacate our table.

All the staff were pleasant and efficient. I have eaten here a few times before last year, and the standard is still very high. I am now looking forward to some good summer days, to enjoy coffee outside in the lovely gardens at the back. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and toilets are very clean too.

Old Churches House is definitely an excellent addition to the new eating places which have opened here in the past few years. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

With two generous starters each, and a bottle of decent wine, plus large coffees, our bill was £40. Good value indeed.
