“Looks the part but doesn’t deliver”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

Not bad but not great either. Nice location but not much to do locally. Room we had was lovely but paid extra for it. Not bad view and very peaceful. Food was ok but drinks were pretty good. Friendly bar staff and efficient.

On arrival waited 20 minutes in a queue to check in. Very poor customer service, no apology no nothing. Tried to use my Hilton Honours card to check in but the desk wasn’t in service. On arrival was told the pool was out of order again very poor!

Wouldn’t have booked here had I known it wasn’t open. I know things go wrong but it’s a selling point of the place. Room was tidy and clean and a bit run down. Marks on the walls and carpets and generally needing a good clean.

Had a terrible sleep as the room was roasting all night even with the window open and radiator off. Breakfast is a complete shambles. No organisation to it at all and I’m guessing that’s down to poor management rather than the staff who were polite but clearly lacking in direction.

I travel a lot and for a Hilton DT this was a let-down. Management didn’t seem interested at all. I would go back if I got a deal but not at full price – better out there for the same price if not less.

Room Tip: Room 415 was pretty good having reviewed some of the others so go for it.. (£9 upgrade though!) Fac...

We arrived on Sat at 2pm for a booking of afternoon tea and overnight stay with friends,1st room checked into was on 4th floor with a frosted glass with no view, 2nd room offered was on the so called new wing and was smelling stale with dirty corridors, the 3rd room offered was acceptable but well below a standard from Hilton hotels. Afternoon tea was booked for 2.30pm and arrived at 3.30 pm after several complaints and was disappointing,The only positive experience was the evening meal in the Nick Nairn restaurant was very good,So i will not be returning to Dunblane Hydro in a hurry

Dear Guest,
We appreciate the time and trouble you have taken to complete the trip advisor survey and to give us feedback on your recent stay. I am very sorry that we fell short of your expectations on this special occasion. We will refurbish our Stirling Wing corridors early March and will invest on new carpets over the same period too.

Booked this hotel for 10th anniversary and both my partner and I are completely disappointed by the whole experience. From the outside the hotel is gorgeous to look at but the rooms are disgusting with marks on the floor, horrible smells and marks on the walls. The beds are also very uncomfortable. We booked a spa break only to be told the spa was fully booked and we also struggled to get a booking at the restaurant. The only plus side is the staff are very friendly.

We stayed here on a Sunday evening, for some much needed R&R. Dunblane Hydro certainly didn't let us down.
We booked a standard room DBB. Our room was compact, but had plenty of storage and was perfectly adequate for a couple having a short stay or perhaps a single traveller. The room was clean, but a few maintenance touches required (marks on walls, carpets) - no big deal though. We also seemed to be staying in a really quiet part of the hotel - even though it was busy, we didn't see or hear anyone else nearby.
Check in is pretty late on (at 4pm) and, because of this, we had to wait in a lengthly queue - as everyone was clearly eager to check in, with plenty of time to spare before dinner. Staff were quick to notice the queue building, and another member diverted from elsewhere to help out. So, actually we didn't have too long to wait.
I felt that the hotel missed a trick with such a late check in. Had we been able to check in earlier, say at 2 or 3pm, we might have opted to have a late lunch in the hotel and / or had time for some pre-dinner drinks. However, as we also wanted to use the leisure facilities, there wasn't time before our dinner reservation, unfortunately.
My only other slight quibble, was that our room didnt have a hotel information pack, which would've been helpful prior to visiting the leisure facilities etc.
Dinner was very nice. The service was incredibly quick and the staff were all lovely. Looking at the menu prices, the DBB option is great value - would definitely recommend it. Breakfast was good as well, but we did seem to arrive just before it got very busy (later guests having to queue). Breakfast was a self-service buffet with a decent selection of food, however staff seemed pretty busy and we didn't get a chance to ask for tea / coffee. So, get down to breakfast while its quiet!

Very enjoyable stay, would happily recommend it. Just wished we could've had longer, on Sunday afternoon, to enjoy it!

We arrived on Sunday afternoon our check in wasn't great as they had been experiencing problems with their phone lines meaning we couldn't contact the restaurant to book a table, rather than reception dealing with it we were sent to the restaurant with all our luggage, not great! All the corridors were dirty and littered with glasses etc (16.30) and none of them looked like they had been hoovered.
Our deluxe room was in a good location and the bathroom fantastic (other than the hairs in the bath tub!) The room was cleanish (hair bobbles near the table) the bed however was a different matter! We crawled into bed shattered and discovered that the mattress had totally collapsed and it was the worst nights sleep I have had in a long time. It was so bad I had back ache for the next 2 days, when this was reported to reception they weren't interested. I have emailed them and await their reply.
We are very disappointed and won't be returning.

The Dunblane Hydro was very busy all weekend when I visited with my wife in February 2014. A lovely place to stay in a very central location. We did have to "Q" for a little while at breakfast but everybody in the hotel wanted fed at the same time. The hotel staff were ever smiling and managed everybody through in good time. The staff are very professional and make the difference. There were some parking issues because the hotel was so full.
