Just returned from our annual work party night out and I have to say I am very disappointed. On arrival at the hotel we were made to feel very welcome and the cocktail bar staff were pleasant and efficient while we waited on our rooms to be made available. Our room, which was a standard double was very nice. Comfy bed, very clean, plenty room to move about and a lovely deep bath. It all began so promisingly. The party night however was a wee bit of a disaster. The whole table wasn't given their food at the same time resulting in cold food for some while they waited on the rest of the table to be served before beginning. We had almost an hour between starter and main course which is a bit unacceptable. The dessert which had no choice was unceremoniously flung down onto the table in front of us by a surly waitress. We were at no point informed coffee and tea was a help yourself affair in the foyer so missed out on that. Strangely enough we were offered shots at our table by a travelling mini shot bar. Surely more sense to set up a wee shot bar in the foyer. The band were not up to much and the singer couldn't be heard above the music. There was no rapport with the guests at all. I'm sure this is a lovely hotel on other occasions but the party nights are not up to standard for the money. Back to Creif Hydro for our party again next year I'm afraid.

I am sorry to read that we did not fulfil your expectations for your party night and your comments have been shared with the team. We will look into the practicalities of providing a static shot bar in the foyer near the coffee and tea. Please accept our apologies for standard service you perceived – this is being addressed internally.

This was our second stay at Dunblane, and we will be returning again next year. The decor at Christmas is lovely.
We received exceptional service from the moment we checked in, our room was ready even though we were early. Having previously stayed in one of the deluxe rooms I would definitely pay the extra to get one again. We were in a standard double room and it was decent enough, though the shower was a bit rubbish. Mini bar is very expensive but we didn't use it.

Jane who worked in the main bar provided great service and gave us 2 glasses of prosecco for my husbands birthday which was very nice of her!

We had dinner in the Kailyard and it was lovely. They gave us 2 small samples of the butternut squash + chilli soup and it was gorgeous. Restaurant was very quiet however so service was excellent.

The only small complaint we have was the after party that was held from the Christmas Party..it seemed to be held in the room next to ours and we didn't really sleep until 3:30am. This is of no fault of the hotels really but we did mention it upon check out.

The bed...well, i've woken up with knots in my back that are extremely painful!!!

Finally, and I wish I'd put this on a comment card. I'd really like to see a "no pyjama's at breakfast" policy. I don't know when this became socially acceptable but nightwear at breakfast isn't acceptable and I hope the hotel takes this onboard.

Can't wait to return next year however :)

Room Tip: Upgrade if you can afford it!

Thank you for your comments – we love Christmas décor at the Hydro too! Your observation regarding the breakfast dress code has been duly noted and forwarded to the management team. We are pleased to read you had such a great time with us, though sorry to read your back is sore – I’m sure this could be remedied with a relaxing massage in our Beauty Department.

Stayed on 1 December for 1 night b&b. Check in and staff throughout hotel all very pleasant and room lovely if a little on the small side. Very disappointed at the condition of the pool, changing rooms etc. Very tired, dirty, and in desperate need of refurbishment. Also a wedding on meant loud noise from function and from guests as they made there way back to rooms late on. Probably wouldn't return as like to use leisure facilities when we are away and these were not to the standard we would expect.

Room Tip: Check if there is a function on and ask for room at other side of hotel!

A planned major development of the Health Club has been proposed and we, too, are aware of the need to update some areas in advance of this and your comments will help us to prioritise this work. We do hope to have some good news regarding the Health Club in the near future. Thank you for your feedback.

This was my first time at the Dunblane Hydro hotel, and my family and I had a good stay. The hotel looks beautiful from the outside. Checking in was no problem and the staff were very friendly and helpful (thank you for the cookies - very nice after a long trip up from London!). There were 6 of us staying in the hotel and we tried to get the 3 rooms near one another when making the reservations previously. The hotel managed to get 2 rooms near one another (at the back of the hotel) and 1 room at the front. The rooms at the back of the hotel were adequate: comfy beds, however views of the parking lot and often a strong damp smell in the room. My family members who stayed at the front of the hotel had a good stay in their room. The breakfast was excellent, with a great selection of food. Overall, a good stay at this hotel.

We always endeavour to acquiesce guest requests for rooms close to one another; however it does depend on the type of room reserved, as all our Deluxe room are at the front of the building. We have shared your comments with team to make the in-room improvements you noted. Thank you for your comments – we are glad you had an overall good stay at our hotel.

Firstly, as a family we have stayed at the hotel on several occasions in the past and throughly enjoyed it, Hence, we decided to come back here for a special birthday celebration.

The staff are lovely, helpful and I think try their best. The food and service in the restaurant was fine.

However, our weekend was ruined by a number of factors.

We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children therefore had requested an adjoining room. The room itself was ok but there was a half eaten pringles packet on our arrival and there was absolutely no view from the window as it was made of frosted glass, the type you would expect to find in a bathroom window.

Later we discovered (after the kids locked themselves in the adjoining room) that the door handle was missing on our side. Thankfully our children are old enough to open the door but I dread to think of the risk this would pose to younger children esp in the event of a fire/emergency.
We discovered that that carpet rod was missing when my husband stood on the jaggy bits of metal and cut his foot.

the public rooms were cold, no fires were lit. I asked as we were genuinely cold. Apparently however the logs were wet having been outside. It is December in Scotland so you would assume that someone would have thought of this beforehand ?!!?

we went to bed at 11am, there was loud music playing which could be heard very clearly from the room, I called reception who politely informed that the music was to stop at 1am and did we not receive a letter ?

Added to this the fold up bed my daughter was to sleep on collapsed when she got into in. we discovered, whilst the duty manager was present, that bits of it were taped together with masking tape. Nice for a child to experience ?

The noise continued with the guest next door having another party once the function finished. With the general slamming of doors and people up and down the corridor the noise eventually stopped at 5,30am.

I must say that the duty managers both on the Saturday night and Sunday morning were genuinely apologetic and helpful and we did accept the 50 % refund on the room rate which was offered the following morning. Both managers did make efforts and the duty manager on the Saturday night replaced the broken bed immediately (thank you).

We have since accepted a full room rate refund following an email sent to the manager on Monday morning.

Sadly however, this was accompanied by a half hearted apology which initially implied that the noise was firstly the sole responsibility of other guests and then seemed to blame us for not expecting some kind of party night in the festive season.

Hello Hilton !!!!! We have no problem with people enjoying themselves but, having 3 children, we would have thought some consideration would have been given to where we were put in the hotel and even a word of warning beforehand would have been nice.

Sorry to say but after 12 years we would not go back .

I am sure its a great place for Christmas parties but not one I would recommend anymore for a family get together.

Poor show.

Room Tip: make sure you ask for a room far away from the function suite at the back of the hotel

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for two nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast deal. I have stayed at hotel several times in the past so was happy to see that Hilton has spent considerable sums on renovating the reception, lounge and restaurant areas. The reception process was swift, personable and professional (we were also given a warm cookie which is always welcome). Our room was to the back of the hotel, meaning not the most fantastic view, but was nonetheless clean, reasonably well-appointed for a 4 star with a mini bar, small TV, comfortable bed, hair dryer, iron and board, a small sitting area. No complaints about the room, probably not the nicest room in the hotel but certainly better than previous stays.

The breakfast selection was very good indeed, much better than expected. The restaurant for evening meal was very good. The stand out feature of the hotel during our stay was the standard of service we received from the restaurant team at breakfast and evening meal. The service standard was exemplary.

We would return to the hotel in future for similar short breaks. I would ideally like to be situated at the front of the hotel offering a better view than the car park.

We agree; the deluxe rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor at the front of the hotel do have stunning views. We love that the rooms in the older part of the hotel have their own idiosyncrasies, due to the fact the hotel was built in 1878.

Thank you for sharing your compliments about the service you received whilst staying with us; as always, this will be shared with the team. We hope to see you again soon.
