We ate in the Village Inn last weekend. The inn is a pub with a restaurant round the back and not particularly fancy.
I had the mussels in a creamy wine sauce as a starter which were delish! I had fillet medallions as a main course. The meat was accompanied by spuds and veggies which were all very well cooked but could have done with some gravy, jus or a sauce as the combo was a little dry.
My wife didnt fancy any of the starters so asked for some fruit as a starter which they provided , thanks. She had a cheesy chicken fillet but wasn't too impressed with that although the chicken was tender.
Plonk was OK and reasonable.
So all in, not haute cuisine but perfectly acceptable, good pub food well served and reasonably priced.
