“great touring base”
Reviewed August 3, 2008

We booked the hotel trough superbreak and found it to ideal for what we needed.We wanted to use it for a base to travel from each day to other scotish towns.

good points:
great price, clean modern style rooms, handy for the motor ways, quite enough to keep the window open, outdoor seating area to have a summers drink on surrounded by a fish pond, help yourself breakfast ,air con, good leisure facilitys, ample free car parking

not so good:
not a proper hairdryer in the room, double bed as used to a king size at home, bar prices for drinks, limited evening meal menu could have done with more choice,

i would deffinatly go back here to stay i rate it as 7/10

Myself and my partner wanted to go somewhere nice for a night away for out anniversary so we booked this hotel. We paid for the nicest deluxe suite they had, the room was very very nice, spacious and clean, the pool and facilities were excellent, the only thing I would tell people to do when arriving is to book there evening meal as we were not told that other people from outside eat at the restraunt as well so we had to wait for 2 hours. Apart from that I would go again.

We recently stayed in a family room which was very nice, spacious and clean. The leisure facilities are very good and well run. We ate in the restaurant, the food is lovely and the staff attentive. The breakast was also very good. We booked with the hotel direct online and got a great deal.

Well to start of with we had booked a room with a double bed and a room with 2 singles. We went down to reception to collect are keys to find out that they had run out of rooms with double beds in, so we complained and metioned how we had booked this the woman came up with a feeble excuse and said she could get the manager but we were in a rush and need to get to a party so decided to leave it untill the morning. After returning from the party the bar service was good but when returning to our room we found teenagers running around boistrously about 20 of them with no regard to other guests. When we woke up in the morning the breakfast was an all you can eat buffet and we sure did stuff ourselves full it was quite good food but the tables took so long to lay and there were only 4 of us dining. Lets try this i have to put down 4 forks 4 spoons8 knives and a cup that really is way to complicated for any member of these staff to do under 5 minutes

  • Liked — The cleanliness was immaculate
  • Disliked — The kerfuffle at the reception desk

Stayed in Hotel for 2 Day Management Course. Hotel is ideal for this sort of thing although the individual conference rooms are noisy and you can hear videos etc from room next door. We were on a fixed package as part of the course which included all meals. Rooms are spacious and modern and there is a very impressive health club. Only disappointment was evening dinner when we were restricted to a very limited choice fixed price menu. We requested alternative main course from the main menu but two waiters and Maitre D later we were getting nowhere. We persisted however and duty manager appeared eventually she sorted out problem and we were offered alternatives. Whole process delayed dinner by hour and a half but as we were in no hurry and object was for course members to meet informally we achieved our objective. Other meals were fine although lunch buffet was little on plain side. There was a lot of repetition between meals especially with starters and sweets.
Apart from Mitre D staff were all friendly and helpful. Ample parking despite hotel being busy. Ideally suited for training/meetings etc. Outlook a bit drab due to location.

Stayed here one night as we had a late flight to Glasgow Airport, which is about 30 mins away from the hotel. The hotel is just beside the main road and easy to find.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. The staff we spoke to were excellent, friendly and lcoal. Tthe hotel was clean modern and had everything you needed in the room. The facilities were excellent - I used the swimming pool which was great. I never used the gym but it looked well equipped.

I did not eat there apart from room service (two bowls of soup & two rolls - £12) which was as expensive as any other hotel, but ver nice.

Only criticism was that there was no food at the bar late on but that issue will only apply to the minority of people who are ariving late.

Superb hotel, definately my first choice in future if neeeding a hotel south of Glasgow area.

Having had a decidedly mediocre experience earlier in the year I can honestly say that the most recent visit was a very pleasant experience.

* Restaurant food and service were much improved
* Friendly staff
* Good room and facilities
* Super leisure facilities
* Breakfast still overpriced
