Owner description: Dragonara Casino, the number one casino in Malta, is owned and operated by Dragonara Gaming Limited. The Dragonara Casino is housed within the majestic Dragonara Palace and has been operating since 1964 offering a unique gaming and entertainment destination 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Dragonara Casino is conveniently located within the St. Julian’s are featuring 250 slot machines, 15 live tables, a premier poker room overlooking the St. George’s Bay, a VIP-Lounge for high-roller private gaming, a Sports Lounge and one of Malta’s top rated restaurants. Dragonara Gaming Limited took over the operation of the Dragonara Casino in 2010 and since then has invested over €25 Million in the property. The Casino underwent a major investment upgrade project earlier in 2016 propelling the property into the ranks of the most prestigious and pristine gaming properties in the Mediterranean. Situated on the tip of the ‘Tad-Dragun’ promontory in St Julian’s the Dragonara Palace is one of Malta’s most extraordinary and imposing private properties built in the classical style almost as a grand romantic folly. Built in 1870 as the summer residence of the Marquis Scicluna the Dragonara Palace opened as Malta’s first Casino in 1964. The Dragonara Casino was one of the first major projects to establish Malta as a prime tourist destination. The Palace is a landmark property in Malta surrounded by a colonnaded veranda that abuts directly onto the sea. It retains many of the original architectural and interior design features, which have been successfully adapted to the requirements of casino patrons.

We stayed at the Westin Dragonara, - which was excellent - and visited the casino which did not live up to it's publicity or our expectations. While we appreciate it's not the same as a Vegas casino, it reminded us of a coastal resort slot machine arcade, with a bit more class.

Ok it ain't Las Vegas but this is not a bad spot to drop into. Was an old palace and is a great setting on the headland

We broke even so the evening was at least partially successful. A pretty standard casino within walking distance of the hotel

Free drinks but only wine and beer as bar was being refurbished. Reminisent of Blackpool amusement arcade and Mecca Bingo. Not a substitute for a good night out. Actually broke even against all odds.

We went to the Dragonara casino twice during our visit. Attire is fairly casual, staff friendly, lots of slot machines, and tables. The wine, beer and toasted sandwiches were free. We broke even after winning the first night and losing it the 2nd but enjoyed our time there and would return.
