Burlington Apartments
Ranked #27 of 33 Hotels in Saint Julian's

Cons:
Upon arrival we were told to head across the street from the apartments to the Hotel opposite to collect our keys. We were then told to head to the St. Georges hotel from there to pick up our keys but when we got there they didn't have them (bearing in mind that we had to drag our luggage to all of these places). We were then directed to an extremely obscure building (that we managed to find after searching around for a good 20 minutes) and go to the 4th floor to find the "reception" - reception was a closed door with a room number on it that looked like a hotel room from the outside; we had to ask the cleaners where it was.

When we finally got our keys we headed to our room and found that the only working socket was connected to our fridge, so we couldn't turn on any lights or charge our phones (resolved by a swap of keys). We also had to buy an English to European plug adaptor for the cooker, as it had a English plug with a European plug socket. Also the apartment only had a portable oven, a kettle, a sink, and a fridge - so we couldn't cook anything on a hob such as rice which severely limited our choice of meals, especially healthy ones.

The halls of the apartments were littered with fag butts, laundry, and general mess; not to mention the cockroach in our apartment and its dead friend under the stairs.
We were unimpressed with the bathroom as we had to hold the shower head over ourselves rather than having a stand, and the bathroom floor was always wet because the bathroom had no ventilation. This also meant that it had an unpleasant smell.

Do not be deceived by the apparance of a little flat screen TV in the living area, ours did not have any signal - not too much of a problem for us as we didn't need it.

Pros:
On the upside, the beds were very comfortable, with clean soft sheets and a ceiling fan to keep us cool.
The location (bearing in mind that we are both 19 year olds) was perfect, with lots of clubs, bars and restaurants on our doorstep. Also, the buses were 1 euro 50 for an all day ticket that can take you on any bus to anywhere on the island - if you speak to your rep. you can ask them to label a map with the bus routes; this helped us A LOT.
We were located close to Valletta, Sliema, and St. Jullian's Bay - all of which are places that people travel across the island to see.
The holiday was good for the price.

Overall, we did really enjoy ourselves because, to be honest, we didn't really care about the service or the appearance of the apartments. We had a good time because of the location, the free wifi internet, and the cheap prices.

Room Tip: Back of the hotel is less noisy at night.

Upon arriving to Malta, we were exhausted and longing for a bed and roof over our heads. It is therefore a shame that Burlington apartments could not provide us with beds, consigning two of our party to plastic sofas. Have you ever been to prison? Would you like to go to prison? If yes, then you're probably the kind of convict bellend that occupies the rest of Burlington apartments. It looks like a gulag, the kitchen is definitely not a kitchen and the shower is like a self-service car wash. The cleaning staff are more elusive than Kony was in 2012 and I've had exam invigilators that have allowed me to make more noise than the hotel's owners. By the end of our stay I was envious of the dead cockroaches that littered the floor and was sat in front of the faulty TV jealously watching the Gaza crisis develop. Do not go to Burlington apartments.

Room Tip: Just don't go you morons.

That was my 1st time when I stayed in a 2 room apartment.
I might get back then when visiting Malta again.
Plus:
- huge apartment!
- kitchen with kitchen facilities, partially working electric overn, frigde.
- good location
- easy access - just take keys from the staff in other hotel (bit tricky to find them)
- easy checkout - just leave the keys.
- fresh towels/linen every weekend

Minus:
- Whole hotels shakes on Sat night as it's close to Malta's entertainment centre.
- A cockroach in the bathroom/kitchen every 3 days - but that's normal on Malta.
- The corridors stink with trash.
- Dirty walls
- Dirty windows - but that's normal on Malta

Room Tip: Take the East ones, far from the discos.

How can people live in there? I bet Nelson Mandela's cell looked nicer and was cleaner! We had a water in our balcony in the driest season, dirty walls, dirty table, spookiest bedrooms. HELL! The cherry on the cake was the security threatening us to be quiet because in the room next to us there was a big guy who can knock us off in 2 seconds.

Travelled in a group of 30 lads from 18 - 50yr old for the Malta Rugby Tournement in May 2013.
We were dreading staying here from some of the other reviews, and its fair to say The Burlington Apartments was exactly what we needed, but was far better than expected!!
Rooms were basic and had everything we needed. Beds were comfy, water was hot and electricity always worked. If you just want somewhere to sleep, as we did, this was perfect.

Pros: good position, comfy beds, spacious rooms.
Cons: not the cleanest, lift unreliable and safe's don't work.

If you're going for a group holiday, for beer and somewhere to get your 2hrs sleep per night, use The Burlington Apartments

If you're a couple or a family, it's not the place for you!!

Cheers Malta, awesome 5 days!!! LRUFC

The apartments are located in an area of St Julians that's close to a lot of (late night) clubs, so it can be noisy. There's no reception at Burlington's, just a couple of lift and a staircase to all floors next to a restaurant. On arrival we had to pick up the room keys at another hotel a few hundred yards away (with only vague directions from the transfer driver where it was) The rooms are very basic but seemed clean enough. The rooms are in dire need of a refurb though and are a bit dingy. There's no holiday feel about the apartments and the corridors are very utilitarian, again a lick of paint and a deep clean might help. Don't expect any panoramic views from the Burlington all you'll see from the tiny balcony is more close by apartments and the street below. There's no provision to sit out on the balcony, not even a plastic chair (but why would you want to sit out?).
Other than the cleaners there does not seem to be any management staff on site at all.
It is in Malta but it could be in any city in the world and lacks any sort of character.
The holiday was cheap but my expectations were for somewhere better than the Burlington.
I think in future I'll avoid staying here.

Room Tip: Find somewhere else
