“Beautiful rooms, great location, 5 star”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2012

Beautiful rooms, 2 large double beds, powerful shower, great views from most rooms.
Breakfast at the top end of the scale, sets you up for day.
Lovely indoor and outdoor pool area. Staff pleasant and helful.
Only negatives, why pay for internet connection in bedroom but not in lobby.
Mini bar and water costs in bedroom a little expensive.

Location for tour ing the area is perfect. Many reasonable restaurants a short walk away. Nightlife just around the corner.
Do expore the history and Mdina is a must. Try the roof top bus at €20 for an excellent hop on, hop off tour.

Room Tip: Ask for a view towards Valetta.

Dear surfandturfDublin,

Allow us to thank you for your comments following your stay at the resort.

As you have very well mentioned, the Westin Dragonara Resort has a great location. Being very close to the center of St. Julian’s the resort is very close to many restaurants and very easy to get to other locations around Malta as well. The resort is as well located on a peninsula enjoying wonderful sea views.

We are glad that you have enjoyed our spacious rooms and the breakfast at the Terrace Restaurant. Thank you for your comments.

Should you be planning a return visit please do not hesitate to contact me directly on stephanie.micallef@westin.com

Best regards
Stephanie

The room was generous, the lobby bar good - in classy British colonial style, concierge and check out procedure a bit slow or could have been more proactive. Why only one elevator (of two in place) are working during big conference season, I don't understand.

I went to Malta for the Isle of MTV. The hotel is huge, has its own private beach and some nice bars. Staff was friendly but service can be improved especially in the pool bar. Sometimes had to wait a long time to get my drink and it is not too nice when you are under a very hot sun! The breakfast was delicious, the room was big with an amazing view and there are few places to go out around there! Most of the people in the hotel were there for the event so I cant judge how it would be the environment in a common weekend. It is one of the best in Malta!

A very impressive hotel with its own casino on its own peninsula. Excellent location with many bars, restaurants and shops within a few minutes walk. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. As a couple we upgraded to an Executive room on 7th floor, with a balcony and seaview, which gave us access to the Executive Lounge on 8th floor where, between 6pm and 8pm, you could help yourself to an extensive range of drinks and a few canapes. The deal included breakfast which could also be taken in the Lounge but we favoured down at the Terrace restaurant which had a much larger area and selection. There's a good pool terrace with access to the sea.

Room Tip: Upgrade to Executive room, however I would think all rooms would be good.

This was lovely. We enjoyed our stay here.

Did not eat in any of the restaurants so cannot comment on the food but the staff gave spot on recommendations for local restaurants in town.

The first room we were given had stains on the mattress and there was no issue to change rooms. I don't even want to know what was on the first mattress.

Cedric at the front desk was a huge help from our arrival to our departure. Every point of contact we had with the staff was A+.

We've just returned from the Westin Dragonara and had a great week in this excellent hotel. Our room was large and very comfortable with excellent views of the bays towards Sliema and Valetta. The doormen and reception staff were extremely professional, always with a smile, very helpful and friendly, as were the restaurant staff, especially the manager at breakfast who has a great sense of humour. In all, a hotel which we would recommend and will definitely return to.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 632 which has great views of the bays towards Sliema and Valetta. Only drawback...

When I was booking our accommodations at St. Julians, I was torn between the Hilton and the Westin, in the end I was to so pleased with choosing the Westin primarily because of the views and it’s location on a small peninsula and the Hilton just seems so big. In fact, I even went into the lobby of the Hilton and I did not like it as much as the Westin simply because the lobby of the Westin is bright, nicely decorated and large glass windows that look onto the ocean.

The room I had was Room 745 which was considered an executive club room and has a nice view of the ocean, the casino, which really looks nice at night all lit up. The room was immaculately clean, and very large. It was nicely furnished with two queen size beds, and still plenty of room to walk around. The room has a balcony with two chairs and a table, so if you wish you could lounge in the balcony. The bathroom was equally spotless and well stocked with bath amenities that were re-stocked on a daily basis. The best thing about the room, other than it’s large size is that the ac worked and it worked well. Malta in October was still relatively warm so a cold room after a long day of sightseeing was a welcome relief.

The lounge, which I had access to, was in the 8th floor. Breakfast was served here, or if you prefer, you can have breakfast in the 2nd floor. Breakfast was included in the rate. The only difference between breakfast in the lounge and breakfast downstairs in the second floor was that in the second floor there is an omelette station. Other than that, the same foods – sausages, scrambled eggs, cold cuts, cheeses, yogurts, and pastries were served in both places. Kudos to Pam, who welcomed us every morning at the lounge for breakfast. At 6:00 PM pre-dinner drinks, soda canapes, as well as finger foods and cheese and crackers were laid out in the lounge. One night there was chicken satay, which was excellent, and the other night there were samosas.

Internet was not included in our rate, but the lobby has free internet. The Lounge also has free internet and the internet speed at the lounge was considerably faster than in the lobby. The lobby is good for sending e-mails, etc., My only criticism of the Westin is that internet should be provided free of charge in the rooms. Most hotels offer this now as complimentary.

Overall, I’m glad we chose the Westin instead of the Hilton and we will most likely be back next year.

Many thanks for your comments following your stay at the Westin Dragonara Resort this October.

Gladly we notice that you have enjoyed your stay at the resort. The rooms are indeed very spacious all with a balcony to enjoy the wonderful views from the peninsula.

As you have very well mentioned, the Executive Lounge offers both breakfast and pre dinner drinks in a relaxing environment. It is a great way to unwind in the evening, enjoying the drinks and canapés and the great sea views from the terrace.

Whilst thanking you again for our wonderful comments, we look very forward to welcome you back to the resort for another vacation.
