All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed beautiful sea views from our room. The ensuite in room 954 is a dream, you can actually have a nice bath and look at the view of the Mediterranean sea. So relaxing. We went there for my birthday and I can say it was the best birthday ever. Thanks to hilton.

The hotel is rather a large one, overlooking the sea. It has a nice outside swimming pool and access to the sea. It has probably being built in the 80s and would need a refit. You have large breakfast room with a nice buffet. Often used for conference and convention. You are next to the Casino, which might be appealing for game lovers. Rooms are OK, furniture would need to be changed. In summary a normal 4 star property without any particular charm.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room (for a premium)

Thank you for taking the time to write about our hotel.

The Hilton Malta was in fact rebuilt in the year 2000. It caters for both leisure and business clients (depending on the season). It has 404 rooms. Some are decorated in the classic mediterranean syle while others have a more contemporary modern decor.

The public areas look all very impressive but we were less impressed with our room. The first room we were allocated stank of cigarette smoke. The housekeeping staff must have noticed this but did nothing about it. When we complained at reception we were told that it could not be cigarette smoke as the Hilton was a non-smoking hotel! Anyway the second room we were given was better but was spoiled by several minor faults that again must have been noticed by housekeeping staff but had not been rectified. This is not the way things should be in a five star hotel.

Having spent six night here during March, I have few complaints about the property and the restaurants.

I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to a lovely room on the 11th floor overlooking the sea and I am very grateful. The exec lounge was comfortable and the Canapés and drinks on offer were first class.

We ate in one restaurant twice and the food was superb, as was the breakfast buffet (although it was not really hot).

The property was first class as was the service overall, one minor issue was the fact that there was no turn down service in the evening, perhaps this is because the Island has water challenges, but it would have been nice to have dry towels available in the morning after showering in the evening.

My serious complaint is the fact that having paid in advance, the front desk charged me again on arrival (I only found this out when checking my Amex statement). The hotel dealt with it efficiently and promptly by refunding the amount straight away. However, Amex charge transaction fees for exchange rate transactions and the debit and the subsequent credit have cost me almost £50. Something that the hotel have not dealt with efficiently or to my satisfaction, which is a real shame. So anyone who has paid for their room in advance beware.

The rooms are not sound isolated: it´s possible to hear noise from the room side, the top, the corridor... The rooms are not suficient light isolated: at the first morning light, the room gets illuminated. The beds aren't good.

After reading the reviews and constantly checking prices, we did book this hotel. When we first looked at rates they were in the $200 - $300 range per night. We would be checking in close to midnight on the first night and leaving very early on the fourth night, so did not want to spend $1200 for 3 days. When checking again, we found the rates were lower and then lower again a few days later. We booked it at around $105 per night, which was a good deal for this Hilton. One thing, though. I booked it by calling Hilton reservations to see if I could get a better deal. The price was the same as the Internet. When I called, the price was around 93 Euros a night and I requested a king bed. When I received the confirmation it was only for one person, although the reservationist never asked me how many people would be staying. The reservation was non-refundable. When I called the reservations number to tell them there would be 2 people in the room, they almost would not change it because it was "non-refundable", but told me to contact the hotel and gave me the phone number only.(in Malta? from the U.S.?). I did find the hotel's e-mail address (with some searching) and contacted them. They made an exception and allowed the change, but would have to charge 105 Euros per night, which I agreed to do. Since the rate did not include any meals, it's curious as to why they had to charge this additional fee of over $15 more a night. We had a confirmed "King" room, but still had to pay for an additional person, when food was not included. However, it was still a good rate, since we liked the hotel. It is a stop on the Hop On Hop Off bus route and very convenient to many restaurants. The concierge, Edward, was very helpful regarding hints on the HOHO bus and places we should see. The other concierge was also helpful as was the staff. Rooms were very clean. We travel often and I tip the maid every day instead of at the end of the visit. Sometimes the person who has cleaned your room for the whole time is off on the day you leave. So another person gets the tips. It may even out, but I prefer it this way (as do some of the housekeepers that I've spoken to). What was surprising was that I got a little handwritten thank-you note from the cleaner each day. The staff at this hotel is very good, and I recommend this hotel for the staff, location, and cleanliness.

One small note with regards to the comments related to prices: It is a standard in the Hilton and most hotel chains to charge different rates for single or double occupancies regardless if it’s with breakfast or without. The mistake done by Hilton is not asking you how many you will be in the room. For that we sincerely apologise.

We stayed for eight nights in March to celebrate our first anniversary. We were delighted to be upgraded when we arrived, to a lovely big room with a terrace and sea view. We also had a bath and shower, a vast comfy bed and we were amused by the pillow menu; water pillows and MP3 - playing pillows available! The outside pools were not yet open for use but we were able to sit outside in the sun on a few occasions; we used the indoor pool and found the facilities excellent. I also used the gym which was clean and well-equipped. We ate and drank throughout our stay in each bar and restaurant; Ben is vegetarian and we found he was limited to pizza and pasta on much of the island but he was able to eat well in the hotel, the buffet breakfast being a particular hit. The Blue Elephant was a highlight; we had a truly wonderful meal there and were fit for nothing but lying on the couches in the lounge after. The cocktails in the lounge were a hit with me. All the staff were unfailingly polite and helpful; I'd particularly recommend utilising the concierge service to help you plan your time; we were able to arrange in under an hour all our sightseeing, Ben's diving trip, and even tickets to the Hypogeum which we had tried to book in advance but had been sold out. A member of the night staff queued for us in the morning on his way home to get scarce walk-up tickets. There is a small charge for this but I promise it's worth it! Many many thanks to Mario. We didn't get to see everything we wanted to so will be back, and I look forward to a return trip.
