Description: For over a decade, Zest has pioneered the Asian fusion culinary concept in Malta. Boasting some of the best Asian and Continental cuisine on our islands, including exquisite sushi made with fresh, local seafood, Zest's menu will take you on an exciting culinary journey. Every plate perfectly balances Eastern and Western influences-even dessert! Get swept off your feet with delectable dishes from Balinese curries, Indonesian noodles, Japanese teppanyaki and Cantonese dim sums to French lamb sous vide with mango salsa and crème brulées of mandarin and fresh chili. At Zest, no attention to detail is spared including the décor and design that elevates one's dining experience from ordinary to extraordinary. Original architectural details and attractive features, including an open wine cellar and a live-cooking sushi bar, are sure to leave a lasting impression. Zest also enjoys the added bonus of an open-air terrace overlooking romantic Spinola Bay, for which reservations are highly advised-only 14 seats are available in this exclusive location. Year after year, Zest has been voted one of the most popular "best ambience" and "best service" restaurants in Malta by its discerning guests. On these award-winning foundations, Zest has also built a reputation for professional, creative and impeccable outside catering. Whether you are throwing a dinner party for friends at home, a lavish wedding reception for hundreds of guests or an inspiring corporate event, our blend of experience, planning and bespoke attention to detail ensures a successful occasion every time. All this begs the question... Whether for an elegant evening out in the heart of Spinola, or a memorable private event, why not add a little Zest?

“East meets west inside Julianis Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2014

We lived two weeks in Hotel Juliani. Zest is the first restaurant inside. They make an excellent menu from sushi to different east-meets-west dishes, we have not seen somewhere else.
A place to visit, if you are in St. Julians or nearby...

“East meets East?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2014

The clientele is the one of the best ways to judge a restaurant without eating. We entered Zest to find a bustling restaurant inhabited by a combination of locals, business travellers, hotel travellers and people looking for authentic dishes from their home countries. So it has to rely upon the quality of its food.

The mix seemed peculiar at first, but after an appetiser of Chicken Teriyaki (which bought the two together) the menu went down well. The bread didn't really add anything, and we could not but notice other tables were not eating it.

I have to say the Asian part of the menu stands out better. The combinations we had felt a little Indonesian (prawn curry) cum proper Chinese (dim sum) cum Thai (Weeping Tiger). There were also good sushi options. We cannot recall any of the 'West' choices on the menu. So perhaps 'north east-meets-south east' would be better.

Any gripes? The service was a little slow at times, and the waiter did change several times (perhaps explaining why service frequency was variable). And in a holiday district such as St. Julians, Apple mobile phone beeps are to be heard everywhere, including top restaurants; low-quality, but I guess it cannot be helped by Zest.

Worth going back.

“Very good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2014

It's fine dining Asian food, restaurant is beautiful inside, staff were attentive but then there wasn't many people in when we were in, only reason I can think is cause it was a Monday night because the food was excellent. Not a massive menu but a good selection of your standard Chinese / Thai type dishes with a few not so standard choices and they also had a good selection of continental dishes. Definitely worth a visit.

“Nice fusion menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2014

Used the voucher we received on checking in at the hotel to eat in after a busy day. The menu
was full of choices to suit any taste and the dishes we had were really excellent plus some
unexpected courses in between the courses we had ordered. Turned out to be a good value
night.

“Would definitely go back”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2014 via mobile

We stayed at Hotel Juliani, and since we arrived late in the day we decided to use the 10€ voucher they gave us for Zest. The food was brilliant and the service was impeccable. We were so happy with our experience that we decided to go back the evening after and was just as happy then.

The menu is a very interesting mix of foods from both Europe and Asia. We both had the three course menus and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing and the presentation was delicate and professional.

If you are a student the prices might seem a bit steep, but to get a three course meal for 30-40€ is in my opinion a bargain. Especially compared to some other countries.
