“last evening of our holiday”
Reviewed June 28, 2014

We were a group of 5 and we made a last minute booking, which fortunately was accepted, as we would not have liked to miss this restaurant. It is in a beautiful setting near the Hilton and the staff are very attentive. The chef brings out a platter of fresh fish for you to choose from and was very enthusiastic with his comments.

Two of us had the lamb and it was beautifully cooked as was the sea bass. The Chateaubriand was the best tasted yet and all in all it finished off the holiday perfectly.

“Fishing for delights”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

When we entered it was in the middle of a power cut, candles, and the chef came out to explain what adjustments there were to the menu, but after about ten minutes the lights came on and the kitchen could cook the full menu.
I had clams and mussels in wine, delicious but I would have preferred abetter balance between clams and mussels, I can get mussels any place.

The fresh tuna very lightly done as I asked was excellent and very generous. The dessert was a bit of a mystery to my Maltese host who did not recognise it , a hard biscuit topped with ricotta and chocolate sprinkles and chocolate hidden underneath, which I think may have been better as my host envisaged it as more of a pastry filled with ricotta. It was not on the menu so cannot tell you the name.

“A special evening :)”
Reviewed June 17, 2014 via mobile

We visited on Sunday night to celebrate my fiance's birthday. Upon arrival, we couldn't but notice the nice, cosy atmosphere that this restaurant offered. The waiting staff were very attentive and the food was cooked to perfection. The desserts did not fail to impress either :) To top our night off, we were also offered a liquor on the house.. Will definitely visit again

“what a find!”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

A lovely restaurant in a gorgeous setting at Portomaso in St Julians, very near to the Hilton. The food was beautifully cooked and imaginatively presented. The staff were delightful, and very helpful.
Not the cheapest meal we had on our holiday, but certainly the best!
The restaurant always seems busy, so you need to book.
The Patron/ Chef is very keen to promote his fresh fish, but the other dishes e.g. pasta, and the lamb are also excellent.
