Found most reviews about this hotel useful and correct
The place is truly difficult to find. Rooms are small when compared to U.S.A. hotels of this class. We enjoyed sitting on our terrace there but were disturbed by the incessant come and go of helicopters to and from the very nearby heliport.
A tip for budget conscious guests : have a typical French breakfast (excellent coffee with croissant and pain au chocolat) for 3,50€ or delicious sandwiches at the small coffeeshop (with terrace) around the corner to the right of the hotel.

We stayed at this hotel in July and find it to be very nice. The room is modern and clean and the staff are friendly. It's a great base for driving around French Riviera. Driving from Nice, we also had a hard time finding the hotel. The trick is to look for the signs leading to Louis II stadium and loop around the stadium. There you will find the street leading to the hotel. It worked for us!

A very nice hotel with great views but extremely hard to reach. Once you descend the narrow and winding road toward the marina you can clearly see the Marriot hotel. Actually finding the little road to get this so a real challenge. We drove around Monaco for about 45 minutes trying to find the street the got us to the front door. It's a real challenge. Good Luck. Otherwise, beautiful, clean, friendly staff and outstanding views of the harbor.

Stayed for a 2 night weekend break. Our first trip to Monaco. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is on a marina at Cap d'Ail but in reality only a shortish walk into Monaco itself (15 minutes to the old city, 25 minutes to the Casino area). It is very close to the AS Monaco football stadium and has several bars, shops and restaurants close-by. Breakfast in the hotel was excellent and we did have the hotel evening buffet on day which was OK, but nothing startling. Our room overlooked the marina and had a balcony. For our visit it was ideal.

The old city is a must, as is a look around the Casino (there is a small admission charge but you don't have to gamble - you need a passport or other ID for entry). As we didn't really understand the games, we just watched and admired to decor. The area around the Casino and Cafe de Paris are good for people watching. Obviously there is plenty about the Grand Prix but nothing too tacky, with plenty recognisable locations.

Getting to the hotel by service bus from Nice airport was very easy. A Brit resident we met at the airport kept us right. The Monaco bus actually stopped right outside the hotel and was only a fraction of the price of a Cab. As we stayed in Nice before travelling home we travelled from Monaco to Nice by train, which again was simple, inexpensive and took a lovely coastal route. A day trip one place to the other by train would be a good option.

We could recommend the hotel and location for anyone interested in the nicer things in life who is reasonably fit.

My husband and I have just returned from a long weekend stay in this hotel, which booked as a surprise for his 30th birthday. The overall trip was very enjoyable and my opinion of the various aspects of the hotel are below.

Getting There
Having read some previous reviews I was slightly concerned that we would not find this hotel easily if going by train and as such I booked a taxi transfer to collect us from the airport (booked through Shuttle Direct who were excellent). I would agree that the hotel may be confusing to find if this was your first trip to Monaco and would recommend taking a taxi.

The hotel is situated exactly on the border of Cap D'Ail / Monaco. The hotel is directly opposite the football Stadium and is only 5 minutes walk from Beef Bar (fabulous restaurant - highly recommend it) in Fontveille. It took us approximately 10 mins to walk to La Condamine and maybe 30 mins from the hotel to the centre of Monte Carlo, however the shuttle takes only a few minutes. The shuttles run every half hour in the morning and evening and hourly in the afternoon. The latest shuttle is 10pm.
It was reasonably easy to get a taxi from Casino Square back to the hotel at night and it was only 13euros.

On Arrival
Arriving at the hotel, the main reception area is nice. The staff on the desk could not have been more helpful, offering information on the area, where to eat, the complimentary shuttle service etc ect. Our room was, as requested, a non smoking De Luxe Sea View room on the 4th floor

Hotel Room
The hotel room itself was spacious, very clean and tidied by the staff every day. The bathroom was very clean also. One thing I have to say is the bed was FANTASTIC. Very very comfortable and huge as well. The view over the port was lovely although the balcony was wasted in the late afternoon/evening as the sun was around the other side of the hotel.

Pool
The pool was clean and not too busy, there always seemed to be some space whatever time we went along, and it was high 20's early 30's celcius when we were there so was perfect sunbathing weather.

Restaurant
We only ate in the restaurant for breakfast - choice of food was good, although hot items such as scrambled egg/sausage etc was a little cold, however we were late for breakfast every day - just before it finished so that could explain it!!!!!

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the stay at this hotel and would go back. It was not right in the centre of Monaco however it was so easy to get there that this was not an issue. The standard of the rooms was as expected of a four star hotel and the view was fantastic. A great stay and I would recommend staying here as it is very good value for money.

  • Disliked — Channel 4 didn't work on the tv - we missed Lost!!!!

We enjoyed a four night stay at this hotel in May 2007.
Since we arrived late, we had a transfer service meet us at the Nice airport and drive us to the Marriott. The staff at the hotel was very welcoming and went out of their way to find a restaurant that was still serving. The hotel van took us to the restaurant but we easily walked back.

We enjoyed an upgrade from a double double room to a spacious suite with a balcony that overlooked the marina. The suite had two flat screen TVs, a table with suede covered chairs and all the amenties you expected from a Marriott.

The hotel is less than one block from a bus stop for the Monaco public bus system. The local bus is very easy to use and gives you access to all of Monaco.

We also used the free hotel shuttle service to take us to the Casino. Be certain to book this in advance to insure a seat.
If you go right from the hotel along the marina you will come to a beach and a number of restaurants.

There is also a Carrefours store and small shopping center within easy walking distance. This was handy for buying soft drinks, morning pastries and fruit.

We used the public bus system to get to Monaco Ville and easily walked back to the hotel. While this may look like a distance on a map, its mostly downhill and flat with escalators that make the walk even easier.

The Marriott is a little difficult to find and the entrance is not particulary impressive but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
