Visited for a birthday celebration with friends after a gap of a few tears since our last visit. If anything, the restaurant is even better than I remembered. Very friendly welcome, nice warm atmosphere on a chilly night and a great selection of food and drinks. Really enjoyed a traditional real ale recommended by the staff and then chose my food from the evenings 'specials'. The starter of asparagus covered in Italian prosciutto was divine. Even better was to follow with the best slow cooked lamb joint I have tasted for a long, long time. This was accompanied by a nice individual serving of nicely cooked vegetables. I finished with generous and well presented selection of cheeses and biscuits together with some excellent plump grapes. Not over priced but not cheap either. If you believe that you usually get what you pay for, this is really good value for money. The quality of the food on offer is what makes it stand out. It is not the largest venue so booking is advisable. Visit and experiment a bit. You won't be disappointed.
