“Most Scrumptious Food Ever ... Period”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2013

As we weren't from around town we Google'd the most yummiest restaurants around and low and behold the reviews we found were spot on .. our experience at Highland was exhilarating .. I've been to many restaurants and this by far takes the gold .. we had the Greek dips with freshly baked home & pitta bread and my god .. the Houmous & Taramasalata dip combo really hit the spot and left us craving for our main ..

Then came the main courses which consisted of Chicken Napoleon & Kleftico. What can I say .. the Chicken Napoleon is the nicest meal I have ever had, succulent chicken breast cooked with ham and mushrooms .. all engulfed in a rich, yet creamy brandy sauce (the house saute potatoes really soaked up that sauce flavor)... You could just taste the goodness of the Kleftico .. the slowly cooked lamb was so tender it was falling off the bone ... never before have I tasted lamb like it, absolutely mouth-wateringly good ..

Thinking it couldn't get any better out came dessert .. a show of strawberry in the form of Pannacotta and Cheesecake .. I honestly didn't know where to put it .. it was soo good ... the three courses nearly brought us to our knees ..

The food was simply divine, exceptional quality and value .. service .. not bad .. 5/5

“Great "no frills"family run eatery geared up to cater for large events.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

This is a great "No Frills" eatery that is geared up to cater for large groups, events and parties. Gets rammed in the Christmas months with works parties, Christmas doo's. They also do themed nights which seem popular. The Sunday roast (Cavery) is also a hit and for £12.95 you get a starters a cavery and a desert.

Been coming here since it opened so many many years! The Greek Cypriot owners (Jack, Costas & Milli) Plus others all run a tight ship.

The food fare is basic and simple (limited starters) and steaks. But because they seem to cater for a larger crowd the offerings seem to be simple well rehearsed dishes rather than Gordon Ramsey style foodie plates of food.

To be honest they have got it just about right for their market.

What would I improve? Maybe a "Specials Board" for the times of year when its a bit quite. Also in London I had a FAB steak but at 500g and £45 it was huge and expensive. Next time I am in there on a quiet night I am going to ask for them to rustle me up a half kilo filet steak to see if they can adapt a bit.

Not really going to gripe at this place. They know their market. They know what people "want" and the execution is faultless.

“Dissapointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

We went on a non theme/event night.
The restaurant appeared full, which seemed to irritate the staff? The food was passable and the service was slow... It was really difficult to attract someones attention to get a drink which was really frustrating.
The party music didn't start until 11pm, when most of the clientele had left, and this was only because we complained that that there was no music - so having a good time was really hard work. If you want a restaurant that can accommodate large parties this place can do that, but don't expect any frills or special touches.
We had a good time because we were absolutely determined to as it was a special family occasion but we definitely would not return, or recommend it to others.

“Good tucker”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2013

As with most of the views below this place is highly rated and rightly so.
Sunday carvery is a must try as the food never runs out and is of a good standard. Good family day out.
Rest of the week is also enjoyable food with a Greek twist. If you like steaks then the T Bone is a must try, if you can eat it all, it's HUGE.
Frequently they will put on live entertainment which is always great fun.
In a nutshell you can't go wrong so go and enjoy.
Hope this helps
