“Better than expected after reading the reviews on here!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2013

We spent last weekend at this hotel and I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting the worst after reading reviews on here and it was a very nice stay. All the staff are very friendly and polite. The rooms were fine - very clean. A fridge would have been a bonus but not a deal breaker! The pool was adequate for the girls. The hotel was clean. The breakfast choice was vast. The only gripe I would agree with are the pillows are as flat as a pancake and very uncomfy. But I called down to reception and had more brought up to the room within 10mins. We had 2 double beds in our room. Both beds were completely different. One bed was extremely comfortable and the other felt like a water mattress - everytime someone moved - so did the other. It was an incredibly soft mattress. I did make the hotel aware of this. Personally we prefer a firmer mattress - although pretty sure someone else would think it's the comfiest bed ever! We would certainly go back and recommend it for a short break away.

We frequently visit Marriott hotels to stay for a weekend away. Cheshunt was unusually disappointing. Bedrooms - cheap quilt and flat pillows (very unusual for Marriotts). No fridge or safe - in a luxury room. It needs general up-grade - whatever takes it out of 1980's. SPA was not a SPA but a small unattended pool without sauna, etc. Gym out of date - unpleasant. with the changing rooms across the corridor. Bar snacks was uncooked - blood sipping from kebab snack, Restaurant not managed well during busy periods.

Room Tip: If you have to stay there ask for a courtyard room as the hotel is based between the busy motorway a...

upon arrival do not be taken in by the semi upto date surroundings of the reception, bar and resturaunt. As soon as you check-in and head to your room you feel like you've inadvertently stepped through and time machine and you back in 1993! Once past reception you enter the hotel corridors which are decorated in garish out of date carpets and wallpaper. Upon entering the rooms similar decor continues. Well used sofa, dark wood table, yellow carpet, yellow walls, fudge coloured painted doors with worn faux brass/gold handles. Shower is fixed to wall and too low for anyone taller than 5ft. Went to resturaunt for dinner with a slightly upbeat feeling after reading the hotel guest welcome pack which states and I quote "newly appointed executive chef Christophe Preaudat brings a new & exciting International French style of cooking to the Cheshunt Marriott Hotel. His exciting new menu has all the flavours of spring. From Moroccan Lamb Couscous to Ricotta & Sinach Tortellini there are newly created dishes for everyone to enjoy, & Christophe & his team look forward to welcoming you to The Grill Resturaunt during your stay with us." This was followed by a picture of a rather lovely looking "Mokfish Fillet wrapped in Parma Ham, Sauce Duglere Cream Sauce with diced tomato & parsley." When seated at resturaunt the menu did not live up to this amazing sounding advertisement which contained fish and chips, tikka massala, and burgers. To be fair the monkfish was on there but at £21.95 was about £6 overpriced. I used the gym which was like a broom cupboard stuffed with 2 treadmills, 1 cycle machine, 1 cross trainer, some weight machines and free weights but no weight bench. Breakfast was good, had selection of hot and cold buffet style foods and had a chef doing fresh eggs to your liking. Staff have been courteous and friendly throughout but doesn't make up for all the other short falls and empty promises. All in all a big disappointment from a large chain that has a name for being a little more upmarket.

We stayed at the Cheshunt Marriott hotel for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend. I took the kids to the nearby Paradise Wildlife Park. The hotel is a modern hotel, but what made the visit extra special for our family was the amazing catering services provided by Abdul. Truly amazing! If anyone from the management of Cheshunt Marriott reads this review, please keep hold of Abdul, he's not only an amazing chef, but a wonderful host. Abdul is a credit to your hotel, and truly made the trip extra special. His knowledge of the local area was also fantastic. Our family will visit the Cheshunt Marriott again just to meet up with Abdel, he was that good... thank you Abdel, and hope to see you again soon...

Expensive rooms, dire service. Choose the premier inn instead and save your wallet or your credit card from being charged twice. off shore customer services which cost money to complain. Pool closed.i wish i had booked a budget hotel such as premier inn

I stayed here with my husband and our toddler for 2 nights over a weekend. The public areas of the hotel are comfortable enough, you could be in any Marriott hotel really. The room was ok, the pillows were a little uncomfortable and the temperature was on the cold side - the heating system does need updating. The food served at breakfast was to the normal Marriott standard, the omelette station was very good and whilst the restaurant was busy, the buffet food was replenished quickly and was always hot, plus everyone serving food/clearing tables/replenishing the buffet were very friendly, acknowledging everyone and chatting to guests. We also had lunch at the hotel one day, we did enjoy the food and we would eat there again for convenience only as it was on the expensive side. We did have an issue upon arrival - I had requested a room with two double beds and I sent an email when I booked the hotel and then called to confirm they had received my request a week before the booking, which I was assured they had - although they couldn't guarantee the request. Upon check in we had been given a room with one king size bed and they said there was no mention of the request on the booking! They did resolve this for us, but it was an unnecessary issue given my email and telephone call. I also didn't like the fact that they charge £3 per day for parking - there is a busy shopping area next to the hotel, so I can only assume it is to avoid people parking there and then going to the shops - if that is the case, then they should not be charging those resident at the hotel, that would put me off staying again just as a principal. The best thing about the hotel is the service we received whilst we were there - it was brilliant. Everyone we encountered was extremely friendly and helpful, always making sure we were enjoying our stay and had everything we needed. We would stay here again, if they waived the parking charge!

I have stopped here a number of times over the past year on business and I would say that each time I stay here the service gets better and better.
The front desk staff have changed over the past few months and they now have a team who really understand the customer needs and service you in a polite and effecient manner but with a personal touch.
The rooms are the typical Marriott rooms and having stopped in everything from the standard room to a 1 bedroon suite I can say that they are of a good standard but would benefit from a refresh as the colour scheme is bland and some of the bathrooms probably need a refit.
On the negative side the prices in the bar and restaurant are at the top end of acceptable but a drive out 5 miles on the A10 takes you to many decent restaurants including a TGI Fridays which is clearly better value for money.
Breakfast is excellent with freshly made product available plus a chef on hand to make omlettes and fried eggs should you want them and the service in the restaurant is very good giving no cause for complaint.
Overall a decent hotel which is better than its near rivals.
