An excellent hotel. Staff extremely curteous and friendly.

We felt most comfortable and at home.

This is our second time coming into this hotel and we are certainly coming back in the half term
Our Kids enjoyed the swimming pool, spa and the zoo which is very near to the hotel.

Thank you to chef abdel sawy who was taking a good care of us

Stayed one night. I enjoy the Marriott chain but as previous reviewers mentioned this is a dated hotel in need of refurbishment. The hotel is also very cold, corridors, restaurants and the bar area. Limited wine list and the food and wine is very expensive and there is a limited selection. We had dinner but the restaurant was so cold so they brought over an electric radiator but to be honest it didn't make much of a difference. Dinner was awful, served on cold plates (mentioned in previous review) overcooked, or wrong food brought and a un-recognisable sauce was serve with the sirloin steak. I would suggest you eat out. The only warm place was beside the fire and this was always busy. Used the swimming pool but that was quite small and they had a spa pool but no steam or sauna. Would not recommend this hotel. Rooms do have heaters and were clean but bathrooms and wardrobes are probably from the eighties. We had a room overlooking an empty tumbleweed car park but it was quiet. No fridge or safe in room. Bathrooms are very badly lit too.

Room Tip: Stay in another hotel!!!!

We booked this hotel via booking.com. When booking there was a choice of a twin of king room. I chose the twin by putting in the special requests box "twin room please". On arrival we had been allocated a king room and when i pointed this out to the receptionist she said that it was only a request not guatanteed (then why offer a choice?!). After telling us that there were no twin rooms available she suddenly "found one". What she did not tell us was that the room next to ours was not a guest room but the changing rooms for the swimming pool. The room was quite nice but the toilet could have been cleaner, traces of the previous occupant were visible. the heater was awful, so noisy and completely dried out the air which upset my asthmatic husbands chest. From 5am (even though the pool was not supposed to be open) there was a constant stream of people going in and out of the changing roos (the actual pool was on the opposite side of the corridor) and each time the door was opened it banged shut. Needless to say we had very little sleep. The other thing that possible guests should be warned about is the traffic. The side of the hotel where we were located is less than 50 yards from the A10. I know the hotel cannot do anything about this but the local "petrol heads" use this road as a race track for around an hour starting about midnight. So betwenn the boy racers and the banging door it was rather afraught night. We were looking forward to breakfast...oh dear! It was chaos! there was no table laid, we were poured a mug of tea each (no pot of tea in sight) and the cooked food was greasy. On the second morning we spoke to the restaurant manager who said that the problem had been caused because there had been a large party in on the previous morning (they obviously turned up out of the blue??? i think not) and although he had warned them about the clock change they all turned up at once for breakfast...... a good hotel is prepared for all eventualities. the only good things were that the room was large and the beds comfortable. On our last morning my husband went to have a swim before breakfast and his pass card woiuld not allow access as it had run out at the end of the mont (the previous day). One more word of warning - you are expected to pay £3 a day to park. I have never come across a hotel wher they charge to park before although they assued us that they are cheap compared to others???

Room Tip: Dont get a room near the swimming pool!

We recently stayed for 2 nights and 2 days with our choir group for a singing weekend and had a wonderful stay. The hotel’s main asset is its staff, and although this is a 4 star hotel in every other respect, everyone who helped out with our weekend went above and beyond and nothing was ever too much trouble – their service was definitely 5 star and these lovely people would be perfectly placed in the best 5 star hotels in Central London. Several of the staff deserve a special mention: Sam, the Restaurant Manager, who made sure our event ran smoothly, and some of his F&B team: Hiren, Denclectro and Aneta, who never stopped smiling, gave exactly the right amount of attention to their guests and were lovely and chatty. If anyone asked for anything that wasn’t available, they were immediately on the case and arranged for it to happen – all outstanding and delightful people. The staff on reception was also very helpful. I would particularly like to mention Fredrik Peterson at Head Office who co-ordinated the event so professionally; a fantastic asset to the Marriott Group.

With regards to the hotel itself, the food offering was very good throughout and special meals were prepared straight away and without question for those with difficult dietary requirements. The bedrooms could do with being refurbished and brightened up at some point, but were comfortable, and the beds and pillows were like sleeping on a cloud! The rooms do need safes and some more toiletries, but were spacious and quiet and perfectly nice. The conference rooms and outside bar area, which we used exclusively for 2 days and nights, were great; exactly the right size for our group of 36, secluded, so as not to disturb other guests, and transformed very well from day to night activities.

We would definitely return here for our next events as the hotel lends itself very well to our requirements.

Room Tip: Choose a room not facing the A10 - a courtyard-facing room preferrably.

Nice Hotel room was a good size, bathroom clean and functional, ask for an inside room as yor patio leads onto the Gardens which in the summer would be very nice. The Hotel has a small gym and a swimming pool which were very nice. Food at the hotel was very nice but as with most hotels very expensive. Staff were Excellent .

Room Tip: the ground floor rooms have a garden

Booked this hotel after many pleasant stays at Marriott properties in Australia and the Far East. Has Marriott forgotten about this property? After a 4 hour drive met with a cool “welcome” at reception. Surprised about the charge for car parking [not exactly a central London location] – suggest raise the room tariff and manage the car park if there is an abuse problem. Charge for Internet in this day and age just not acceptable. Anyway, no choice but to accept, as like most of the population Internet connection essential for business if not personal email! Unable to connect and after requesting help, connected to a recorded message help line which was of no help. Then requested the duty manager to help. At this time 5 star service materialised. My thanks to Ahmed Shawky for taking the time and interest to help and solve – not my computer but with the Marriott service provider. Refund for the Internet connection offered and accepted. Breakfast mixed comments – great fresh fruit. Offered eggs cooked to order [fantastic] – but then to be presented with two nicely cooked eggs served on a stone cold plate was very disappointing. Same comment applies for the omelette my daughter ordered. Excellent help from reception helping my daughter print out documents and concern shown on departure that our stay did not meet expectations. Last memory – two charming smiling receptionists. Conclusion – Marriott – renovates, demolish or sell. Hotel whilst clean, very very dated. Rooms – no fridge, no safe, basic toiletries. Improvements – serve hot food on hot plates + training for your night shift reception. Lastly, if I owned a hotel chain I would have offered Ahmed a job – he is a hotelier, not a bed factory manager.

The rooms were tired, the pool looked murky. The food was very average and expensive. The hotel is not of the usual Marriot standard, the gym very small and hot. The bar area was full of screaming kids running all over the place, not condusive to a quiet meeting

Room Tip: stay somewhere else
