“Disappointing and dangerous”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013

I went to the Rihanna gig on Thursday night and have to agree with a fellow reviewer that there was just no organisation whatsoever, it was just a free for all. We kept getting pushed around with the safety stewards having no idea where people were meant to go. In the end, despite paying for standing tickets we decided to keep away from the crowds by sitting in some empty seats right at the top of the stadium and thank god we did as there were fights breaking out all over the place. It was only a matter of time before someone got hurt. I really don't think stadiums should be allowed to sell alcohol either as this seems to fuel the fighting and most people were drunk before the gig even started. Overall a disappointing venue and an even more disappointing gig. I will never understand why artists choose to go here over St James Park, which is more central and a bigger venue. In the end this was not worth all the hassle as Rihanna wasn't very good.

“David Guetta & Rihanna 5 star, the venue 1 star”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2013 via mobile

I can say that the concert was amazing David Guettta & Rihanna were great and fantastic performers. The main issues and poor result which is attahced to this report is for the inept security and stewards at the Stadium of Light, the amount of fights, people throwing bottles, staff not having any idea about anything really showed that the Stadium of Light has a lot to learn about putting on concerts. I observed at least 5 fights where the staff stood by and watched, when the staff did get involved thier skills and training showed no control over the situations they faced. I can assure you I did not feel safe at all. In addition to this when using the toilets I was greeted in the male section with about 20 females using using the urinals, a most shocking moment for the men's toilets... Again no security or staff were round to prevent this. My advice if you are attending a concert then be prepared you WILL be standing in line for a while to get in to the event, you WILL be standing in line for the toilets and should anything happen the have your own exit planned as the staff are not to be relied on for anything. While I believe that they are professional at providing support for the football games concerts are totally different. If you are drinking then you will find that no matter how drunk of get you will get served no issue at all, apparently it was evident that the staff who are selling the drink have no concept of licensing law or to stop selling alcoholic refreshment to drunk people.

All in all the concert performance was 5 star the stadium itself was and is 1 star

SAFC was the location for Rihanna/David Guetta in June 13, we were in executive suite 37 with 8 other people. Food was delicious, staff were nothing but courteous, would thoroughly recommend.

“Rihanna Concert”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2013

Disorganised chaos and at times scary is the only way the security arrangements at this venue can be described. I felt sorry for the staff who were on the whole young, inexperience & didn't have either the confidence or stature to cope with the situations with which they were faced. Marshaled one way systems could have prevented frightening build ups of people in key areas.
