Sunny and warm day is ideal to visit there. Therefore consider on weather forecast. Otherwise it's bit difficult bear cold wind in the light house.

Souter lighthouse is a National Trust property consisting of a lighthouse and keeper's cottages. The ground floor houses exhibitions of the history of the buildings and the equipment as it changed over the years. The cottages are authentically furnished giving an idea of the cramped conditions. The escorted climb up the tower is worth the effort as the view from the top is fantastic as well as getting to see the massive Fresnel reflector. There is a small gift shop and toilets within the grounds. Free car parking facilities. Cliff top walk with views of Marsden Rocks.

The Lighthouse is fantastic and well worth a vist even if you are not fit enough to climb to the top !
There is a small gift shop and a Cafe serving a basic selection of food perfectly adequate for a light lunch.

Really enjoyed our trip to Souter Lighthouse (entry free to NT members). You can climb all the way to the top for a lovely view. Lots to see including the lighthouse keepers cottage, trails for children & dressing up. Nice playground / picnic area outside Well worth a visit.

Picked this up on route from Northumberland coast to Durham and being low season, and term time was not too crowded....really captured the atmosphere of what life for a lighthouse keeper was like as well as preserving some phenomenal equipment. As members of NT had no fee to pay
