“What a treasure of a pub!”
Reviewed June 11, 2014

Had a lovely meal on Saturday in this treasure of a pub. The restaurant; Harby's Lounge upstairs very tastefully furnished with oak panelled walls. Great views of the bridge and Stadium. Tables set beautifully with pristine white table cloths.Waitress; Natasha very helpful, pleasant and even knowledgeable about the real ales.Nothing too much trouble. Food delightful. Presentation really gd and tasted wonderful too. You could easily forget you're in a pub. I had the ham hock with pease pudding, then steak and all the trimmings. My husband had fishcakes followed by the best steak + ale pie.We had no room for desserts. Tremendous value for money. Will definitely return with family next time.

“Wonderful”

I've been a few times in the past month, the staff are helpful considering the array of taps to help you choose something right for you. The traditional pub feel isn't lost and price are very reasonable.

“Excellent pub, now with amazing food!”
Reviewed May 10, 2014 via mobile

Me and my husband often come here, it's a beautiful "proper" pub, with the main bar, a lounge and a decent smoking area out the back upstairs. The staff are always very friendly and happy to help.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they have recently started serving food. There is a main menu and a smaller menu of basket meals, but with six different dishes there is still plenty of choice.

I ordered the chicken goujons and fries from the basket meal menu and it was delicious, definitely the best batter I've ever tasted. It was all freshly cooked and a good sized portion. I can't wait to come back and work my way through the rest of the menu!

Well done "The Isis", taking so-called "pub grub" to a much higher level!

Reviewed February 4, 2014

This is a great pub to visit in Sunderland whether you live here or are just visiting. There is always a nice atmosphere with different room to sit in. The ISIS always have great beers and lagers with multiple choice. Also love this bar because I met my Fiancé here - also planning to told our engagement party here!!

“The Crown Posada of Sunderland”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

On what a pub! Great atmosphere, history, crack, great ales, and ambience.Great for men who like real ale, and there were ten examples on draft when I called, and for ladies, and ladies about to peruse the town should start here! Nothing plastic or predictable about this place, just a nice place to be.
