“The Isis”
Reviewed July 29, 2012 via mobile

Located just 4 minutes walk from the Sunderland Empire, the Isis is a pivotal point in Sunderland for the finest ales, ciders and lagers. Local brewery cask ales are a plenty, with the best European lagers on draught, Erdinger, Butburger, Leffe are just a few to be mentioned. The upstairs function room and roof terrace are a welcome addition. My friends and I are regular drink here in the Isis.
It truely is Sunderlands Victorian drinking Emporium!!!!

“A proper pub at last!!”
Reviewed April 29, 2012 via mobile

Visited for 1st time on Easter Sunday. I have to say, drinking in Sunderland is pretty dire. Too many chain pubs, loud, full of kids. The Isis is brilliant though. Relaxed, traditional decor & an amazing selection of ales & ciders. The barman was really helpful & allowed me to try each of the ciders before buying. It's definitely worth the little walk out of the city centre & I'll definitely be back!

“The best bar by far”
Reviewed April 16, 2012

The Isis is easily the best pub in Sunderland and is proof that if you get a place right customers will always come. The atmosphere is friendly, the staff are excellent and the choice of beers is second to none. The pricing is just about right for a pub of this quality, if you want cheap deals head into the city centre, here you pay for quality drinks properly served in relaxed, civilised surroundings. Well done to the owners for being brave enough to invest in opening a proper pub in these tough times, you've done Sunderland proud.

“A great Ship to get wrecked!”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

We only called in for a flying visit on a friday teatime but will definately be revisiting for a more leisurely visit. The Isis reminds me of a traditional Dublin pub - lots of dark wood, reduced lighting (not so much thata torch is required) and a nice long bar. A great selection of local and international ales served in the appropriate glass by pleasant staff. Limited food at the moment Ham and pease pud sarnies but again, this is very much in keeping with the traditional feel. First impressions have left me thirsty for more.
