My children love this museum, they are very interested on trains and transport which helps, it is only small but it is well worth a visit, bring your own lunch as their is nothing available to eat here and the near area is limited to greasy spoons, it is just a short train ride to sunderland city centre too

We've been coming here with my son since he was about 2, he's now 6 and still enjoyed visiting today. It's lovely to see how everything is captured so simply but so well. The engine shed at the back is interesting too. My only advice would be don't expect to spend ages here but the time you do spend you will enjoy :) definitely worth a visit and we will no doubt be back again!

Part of all our histories, an early railway station with interesting exhibitions. Easy to get to on the Tyne and Wear Metro, nearby walks along the regenerated River Wear

For train buffs this is a good place to visit, especially as it's FREE ! trains don't stop here anymore, but they do still pass through on routes to the north. It was originally a BR station.
