“Very Good mid week dinner”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

We booked a table for early on a Wednesday evening so it was a bit quiet. The satay starter was very good as was the duck spring roll. I ordered a red curry which was very hot indeed but thats how it was described on the menu, it was delicious. My other half had a hot spicy beef noodle dish which was also very good. the Singha been is 2.95 a bottle which is cheap for a restaurant and overall we had a very good meal.

“basic thai”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

We went for an early evening special which was a good price but the food was very mediocre. The staff were friendly and the service was good. Food was just OK

“Consistently good”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

Good food. Pleasant service. Very relaxed. Inexpensive. I have visited about once a month for the last couple of years. Having been through most of the menu, the wife and I now always just order our favourites (Tom Yum, Pad Thai, Red chicken curry...). It is consistently good and, as it is a little out of the way, much more relaxed than the rival Indian restaurants around town.

“so pleased to find this restaurant”
Reviewed August 7, 2012

went to Thai Manor on a groupon deal with my 17 year old daughter. we went mid week and were very pleased with our visit. the restaurant is lovely decorated with plenty of space between the table so you dont hear the next tables conversation. the two thai girls were very pleasant and helpful who served us. we did not wait long after ordering for our starters. we had no problem ordering the mixed starter for 2. the starter was presented beautifully and i was well impressed with a rose flower made out of a potato to set the platter off (but did not eat it!). the food was lovely and hot and well worth recommending. i opted for a beef green thai curry (cant remember the name of it) and it was classed as a "medium" curry so asked for less spices in. not sure how much less spice was added as it was still spicey but i ate it all, just had to have a lot of lemonade to drink! there were bamboo shoots and aubergines in the curry and they were delicious. the only thing complaint was i thought the curry was slightly watery and could have been thicker, but i did not leave any. my daughter got a meal that contained squid and cashew nuts (cant remember the name of it). i did have a taste of it and it was lovely. never had a meal with cashew nuts in but they did taste nice. the mushrooms in the meal were lush. we only got one portion of rice between us, which was ample, and opted for the sticky jasmine rice with coconut milk. the rice was very nice.
We did not order any desserts because we were both full after the starter and the main course. we got 5 soft drinks and 1 lager between us (approximately £8) and the supplement for the squid and the rice came to £4.
The restaurant was very quiet when we went and think it is due to its location as down the Sunniside end and not in the city centre. Would not have been aware of its existance had it not been for the advert on Groupon. Will definitely be returning to Thai Manor in the future. Did see the lunchtime menu for 3 courses for £8.95 so might try this out some time.

“Excellent night”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

Visited the restaurant last night for my Boyfriends birthday. In total there was 6 adults and one child. We were amazed at how big the restaurant was, the decor was very relaxed & the menu had plenty of choice. I was very pleased when they said they would be happy to cater for my daughter at a discount price after i was told they did not have a childrens menu. All the staff were very friendly and the food was lovely and the portions were just right. Would be more than happy to visit again, we all had a lovely night.
