The staff is very friendly and helpful. No worries there. The breakfast used to be the highlight of my stay when this hotel was part of the Rica chain. Not anymore. The standard has fallen seriously after joining Scandic. The breakfast at the Thon Budget hotel further up the road is now better.

This certainly is not a modern, new and shiny hotel. The building looks dated and I doubt that the interior’s been updated much since it opened. However, our reason for staying here was simply to get a good night sleep before catching a plane the next day. This hotel was a cheap and convenient option, and gave us a good night’s sleep. Upon entering the room, I must admit I almost laughed – it was almost like entering the stateroom of a somewhat tired cruise ship. (Now, be advised we had opted for the cheapest room the hotel offered – we walked past other rooms and managed a peek in the door while they were being cleaned, and the hotel does offer larger, better appointed rooms!) The beds were four bunk beds, and there was not a lot of room for luggage. However, we managed, and even though the beds didn’t look very comfortable, they were, and everything was clean. However, the beds were rather creaky, so lying still was important! A drop of lubrication here and there wouldn't hurt!
My rating for this hotel was about to be 3 stars; however, I just remembered the fantastic breakfast, which to me had all the ingredients a great hotel breakfast should have: Bacon and scrambled eggs, and several other hot dishes, lots of cold cuts, sausage, ham, smoked salmon, a waffle maker, muffins and cake…. For the price we paid, we certainly didn’t expect this! We will be back!

Property is not new, but good, rooms were more than adequate. The hotel breakfast buffet was literally a smorgasbord with more than you could possibly want, and the free hotel shuttle gets you to your terminal in a breeze. Recommended if you need to be by the airport and not in the city center.

The hotel used to be Rica and have now fully been converted to a Scandic hotel, although as a scandic hotel it lags far behind when it comes to quality. However dont let my negative start scare you away, if you are there for a night or two you should be more than happy with the service and the amenities. Yes the hotel is old and could do well with a brush of paint or some fresh wallpaper, but the rooms are nice, the beds are comfy and the bathroom is ok. So compared with other airport hotels it could offer value for money. The service in the reception is great, and they deserve a pat on the back for their good work. The restaurant needs to learn service from their colleagues, especially since it is quite expensive. Sat for 15 min yesterday evening and no one could be bothered to offer me a meny, or anything. So in the end I just walked over to the Esso Garrage and ordered my food there, better and cheaper. If you fancy it is also a McDonalds 24/7 next to the hotel. The breakfast has also gone slightly downhill since Scandic took over, but would this scare me away? No, Im likely to stay there again as long as it is cheaper than its competitors.

Room tip: if you want a good night sleep, ask for a room that does not face McDonalds and the car park
