Gardermoen Airport Hotel

This was a pretty descent experience. Stayed here 4 days. It definitely has the signs of a budget hotel such as very small room (and I travel alone), barely room to sit comfortably with my computer on desk, very mediocre breakfast selection compared to the usual European Hotel breakfasts, worn carpets in corridors and a small number (maybe 10) of TV stations with nothing in English for part of the day....evening is better with a couple channels with programming in English.
On the bright side, the front desk personel is excellent/extremely helpful and knowledgable of the area. Front desk manager, Lars, was fantasticly helpful with everything. The kitchen and cleaning personel also lovely and friendly and the buffet meals served for lunch and dinner were expensive in $ terms but 25-30% less than an equivalent meal at other hotels I've been to in the area of the Oslo airport.
Nice fitness room. The hotel is clean and I didn't hear noise from outside my room so guess the rooms must be pretty well insulated.
The internet connection was fast and free and even though it says they charge for parking in the parking lot, they didn't charge me even once.
Despite the drawbacks mentioned, I think I will stay here again if the price stays less than other area hotels.

First, one should know exactly how to get here because the concept of airport is a bit misleading. Even thought I had a view on the runway, it's a 5 minute bus ride worth about USD 15. The only way to get to town is to go back to the airport for another USD 15 and take there a bus, a train or taxi. But buses pass every 20 minutes so even if you check-in immediately you have to wait another 20 minutes to move on. Therefore, I wasted over an hour just to get started (plus the unexpected USD 30!)
Rooms are less than basic because there is only local Norwegian TV and NO PHONES (try to get a wake up cal!)! No amenities other than soap, etc, etc....I guess you get the picture.
Given that Oslo is the most expensive city in Europe, you can also imagine that the cost/benefit valuation of this place left me with a very sour taste.
To put things in perspective, ALL airport hotels here are similar, so my comments are not so specific. My advice is to avoid the airport is you can afford the money and time to stay in the city.

We stayed at this hotel for one night as our flight from Oslo was an early flight from the airport,
The hotel is located about 10mins from the airport but can only be got to by a shuttle bus that runs to and from the airport (which was 65NOK each way) unless you had a car but if you had a car you probably wouldn't stay here..
The hotel was clean and the room was well equipped with a good hot shower..
As is all of Norway food and drink is very expensive.
Basically it is a good standard airport hotel

Most guests only stay for a night and the place is clean and efficient. I tried the gym in the evening, and I was alone. One Stairmaster and one running machine, along with a multipurpose machine and free weights did the job. Food is expensive and there are no good options for a family. The bus only took 10 min to the terminal, but Nok 65,- each way is a rip off.
Price was ok, but with bus and expensive food I am not to happy about the value.

Stayed at this hotel for one night because of flight delay. Took the shuttle from the airport, wich was an okay way of transportation to and from the airport/hotel. Checking in was smooth and fast, and the recepcionist helpful and service minded. We had food included in our stay, because we got the stay from the airline company, but since we arrived after 22.00 they only had pizza to offer us for dinner. That seemed to be okay, but the pizzas turned out to be frozen ones, just baked in the oven. Did not expect this at a hotel, where they have a kitchen. The taste wasnt very good.

The room was a bit unpractical and had nothing extra to offer, apart from some soap dispensers in the bathroom. The TV didnt work, and neither did the lamps over the bed. All surfaces and linens/towels were clean, but there were a lot of dirty marks on the walls. We also found the temperature in the room realy hard to adjust. The bed was comfortable, but personally we dont like it when two single beds are put together in a double room. They kept sliding apart from each other all night.

All in all, the service and convenient location makes this a good hotel if you are just staying for one night while travelling.

Stayed one night at this hotel, transiting Oslo. The hotel is conveniently located near the International airport, with shuttle buses to/from airport every 20 minutes, for 60NOK each way. The buffet breakfast , which consists of freshly baked bread and bread rolls, cold meats, cheese, boiled eggs, fresh fruits, muesli, yoghurt, coffee & tea, starts at 4.30 am til 9am . The room indeed was small, as previously mentioned here, and a bit noisy near the lifts, but overall it was a good experience!

Room Tip: away from the lifts!

The staff was very pleasant although I had to show them the confirmation number for my reservation. The room was the tiniest hotel room I've ever stayed in. It had two single beds and room at the foot end of the bed for only one person to walk thru, sideways! There was no blow dryer or tissue provided and very little space on the bath vanity to set toiletries. The flat screen tv offered more English channels than a similar hotel in Bergen.

On the plus side, there were nice walking paths - something to do to get out of the tiny room. The breakfast buffet was ok, a typical Norwegian breakfast, but nothing hot unless you make toast. They did offer both 6 & 9 minute hard boiled eggs. Sadly, the coffee was not very good, and I do like strong coffee. The dinner at their restaurant was delicious. I had the lamb and my husband had the shrimp and mussels. The dinner was wonderful but I doubt I'll make reservations here again.

There is a shuttle bus to and from the airport but there is a cost. In Aug. 2011, it was 120Kro (one-way for two people). The shuttle has adequate room for luggage.
