The views in this hotel are very nice, the rooms are "OK". The food was good.

It's a nice hotel in a beautiful part of the country. Conveniently located to the area's fjords. The hotel is older, but still nice. The only downsides were that I could hear the people talking in the next room (as in hear their exact conversations) and I could smell the cigarette smoke from the man smoking on the balcony next to ours. However, that was it. The staff was nice and helpful. There were maps in the lobby and one really large one of the whole country. The town is pretty small so I don't know what there is to do there. I walked around and found a few geocaches.

Hotel might not be the most exceptional experience, but it is positioned most perfect for a week or two where you explore the surroundings. Therefore I can highly recommend it for a holiday.

We stayed at this hotel on our way from Alesund to Bergen and here we spent one of the most beautiful evenings from our trip in Norway. The staff is so friendly and always smiling and you can see that they really want you to feel like home. Even if it is a small, traditional hotel, with small rooms (some need to be modernized) and small bathrooms (but well equipped) , there is such a positive energy around this hotel! Its superb location on Sognefjord side, the fresh air of the fiords and the healthy Scandinavian food they serve at dinner and breakfast, make your stay complete! And if you are lucky and have a sunny day in Sogndal, you can watch a magnificent sunset over the fiord - the light here is magic.

The restaurant for dinner and breakfast offers great views towards the fiord, there is also a veranda outside were you relax until late in the evening (maybe with a glass of wine which, by the way, it's extremely expensive in Norway) and there is also a small pool outside. Anyway you won't find luxury in this hotel, but you can experience the real atmosphere of the country-side in Norway.

Room Tip: The rooms are almost all the same, some with fjord view, but if you want to enjoy the fjord better t...

Location: right at the end of the Sognefjord in Sogndal. Waterfront and fantastic views. A great location for travellers who wants to see the fjords/mountains.

Service: Smiling, friendly and great.

Rooms: the double superior are great, but the standards are quite dated. 70s style. Still ok beds, clean enough and with a lovely balcony and facing the fjords. Make sure to get a room vith a
fjord view. And upgrade if you are staying longer then for a night. An upgrade is only a few 100 kr, and if you are lucky, you'll get it free.

Be aware: This is a very poorly insulated hotel. Sound travels all over the hotel, and it can be a bit noisy.

The hotel: the pool and outside area is great, all though the water is cold.

The food: Ok, but overpriced. Get your dinner somewhere else. But breakfast is great, and included.

Price: ok value.

We were discovering Sognefjord and, on the way to Flåm, had an overnight stay at this hotel on the way to the ferry. It claims to be a hotel, but, there were no evening meals provided (even though the hotel was virtually full), and no information about that either. I went down to reception to order coffee and was charged 50kr for 2 small cups of lukewarm strong yuk. The first room we were given stank of smoke, so I asked to change - they seemed surprised that we were not happy! Unfortunately I forgot to give in my "Fjordpass" when I checked in, (although I went down with it an hour later) so we were not able to have a reduction on the room.

The room decor seemed to come straight out of the seventies and the gap between shower screen and bath-tub meant that water ended up all over the floor every time we took a shower.

The outdoor swimming pool was freezing! The car park was far too small for the hotel when it was busy, and I heard people being asked to take their cars to the bus station and park there; the slots were so small that, once in the slot, the car doors could not be opened. We were glad that we had arrived there early.

Advantages- room clean, good breakfast, swimming pool.
Disadvantages far too expensive - 1165kr for a basic double room, car park bays too small, not enough parking space, staff not particularly welcoming.

The web-site makes the hotel look much better than it is in reality.

Booked this hotel through fjord pass and has been given a recommendation by our guide book. The location was very central and our room looked out onto the fjord. Staff were helpful and friendly in this family run hotel. However, the rooms are in serious need of renovation and updating. There is no lift in the hotel although our room opened out on to the front grass so we were able to wheel our luggage round, but not so easy for someone on higher floors of the hotel. The front of our room which had a little terrace had paint flaking off and looked very worn. The corridors were dark and worn and need a lot of updating. The breakfast was quite good, no hot food, and not as big a selection as the other hotels we had stayed in on our 2 week holiday to Norway, but it set us up for the day. All in all I wouldn't rush to stay here again until it was updated, but it had a good location.
