The 3 hour stay in this Island was worthwhile the trip with the good ship "Utsira" because of its noiseless and relaxing atmosphare. There is registret more than 315 different birds out here some nautical miles from the shores of Karmoy (From where Sig. Hansen/alaska crabfisher) is from. It is like a trip to the far north to see the magnificent Borealis - one can do this more than once.

Utsira is a nice place to visit in nice weather. a quaiet island, there lives only some few people. There is a grosery store at the south part, and there is several nice places to sleep over if you want. there is also a ligthhouse on the island. You need good shoes fore the walk. There is many seldom birds at the island, and it is the island there is most west in the aeria. It is a cuiet and peaceful place. Have a nice visit.

I visited Utsira this summer as many times before. Lovely nature, great place to spot birds, you always catch fish there and good Norwegian food.

An hour and ten minutes by comfortable ferry from Haugesund, Utsira is a perfect place to walk, explore and relax. It takes about 25 minutes to walk from the north to the south of the island. There's a shop and post office with a cafe attached in the south - the only one on the island - and it overlooks a beautiful little harbour. I was there on a Sunday morning and had some delicious hot, meat and vegetable soup at one of the tables outside. And the morning I was there I had a real treat : the local choir were practising in the cafe, and they were remarkably good!

Unique. Even though there are several small fishing villages worth a visit alongside the Norwegian coast, this is probably the most "alive" today. It is also Norway's smallest municipality (200 inhabitants) and to witness this minitiature society is worth a visit. And, if you lake open oceans, this will not disappoint you. Even the ferry ride out here makes you become more at peace. The street art is an experience in itself as well.
