Brovingen Mat & Vin
Ranked #12 of 50 Restaurants in Haugesund
Cuisines: Norwegian
Description: En restaurant hvor sansene opplever Haugalandet. Ferske råvarer fra fruktbare jordsmonn eller salt hav, sammen på din tallerken etter sine korte reiser fra den lokale bonden og fiskeren. De små detaljene som gir de store, lokale smakene. Det er dette som er Brovingen.

We read reviews and decided to have a quick supper in this restaurant. The waitress Lena explained that the restaurant only did multi course tasting menus. However when we explained our time restraints she showed us through to a snowy white table.
It was a welcome haven away from the bustle of the Intonational Jazz Festival with a view of the boats below.
After an interesting amuse bouch of caramelised sweetbreads (better than it sounds!) we enjoyed a monkfish dish with soft, smooth mash and sweet potato. It was finely put together with apple and herbs. Altogether delicious.
With a perfectly chilled glass of Sancerre it was perfect!
A big thank you to Lena for facilitating it all. After a quick coffee we were in good time for our son's concert.
Of course this was not a cheap meal but Norway is expensive. In relative terms this was good value.
Wish we could have tried the other courses!

We were here for a family get together. We had ordered the menu and discussed it with the Master Chef of the Restaurant i week prior.
The whole experience was one of a kind. From exotic food jungles to local delicacies with an edge to it, we were taken through a journney of tastes.
I feel the waiters would have done a better job, had they served us the promised drinks as per the different meals.
Otherwise an absolutely must visit place in Haugesund.

This was a celebration for our 5th year wedding day, and was the best meal we have ever had. We are going back in October!

Thanks to Lene for excellent service, and Tore for a perfect meal.

I go to this restaurant as often as possible as I am fortunate to live close by. I even had my wedding celebration there recently. I had no idea (gourmet) food could taste THIS good! Compared to the several Michelin restaurants I've been to (in Rome, London), this really is much better food.

Without a doubt the best restaurant in Haugesund!

The restaurant operate with a set 3, 5 or 7 course tasting menu. For 5 courses + wine package (outstanding wines too!), the total price is about 1250 NOK.

Incredibly lucky that we have Brovingen's chef Eirik Aase here in Haugesund. World class food, doesn't get any better than this. In my experience, even most Michelin restaurants are worse than Brovingen, a few are at the same level at the best.

The only marginal downside is that the dessert is often a couple of levels worse than world class. However, this is quite unimportant in the big picture. We are looking forward to many great evenings in the restaurant in the coming years.

Also great value for money, clearly cheaper than gourmet restaurants in bigger cities. Example: 5 courses (tasting menu, plenty of food) + wine package (world class wines) is around 1250 NOK

The restaurant only has a set 7 course tasting menu (one of the courses is main course, bigger than the others), one can pick 3, 5, or 7 of the dishes. Personally I think 5 is appropriate, 7 is way too much.

Great view, located right by the sea, downtown location (Hotel Rica Maritim).
