“Great breakfast but small rooms”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

I stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights during a business trip to Haugesund.
The location is right by the water and there is an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy a glass of wine if the weather permits. I had lunch in the coffee shop that belongs to the hotel, but did not try the other on site restaurants as there were several other restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast was probably one of the best breakfasts I have seen in Norway with a lot of options. The room I got was called a superior room, but it was really small, so there was nothing superior about it. On the plus side there was a nice little private balcony though. Wifi was free and easy to use. I would probably stay here again mainly because of the location.

Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It right on a waterway in the center of town and if were to visit you would feel as if this is the place to be. Norwegians are generally very friendly people and even at this hotel the staff always had a smile for you. Windows open which for me is critcal for anywhere as the climate controls in most hotel rooms don't do it for me. Haugesund is a very sleepy town but if you do visit there are lots of ferries around for visiting the other islands. The bar is nice and food good.

Whislt the hotel was in a very nice location by the water, giving it a seaside feel in a fair dull & industrial feeling township, the hotel felt very much like it was only catering for winter & business visitors as the main restaurant wasn't open during the week because of "summer".

The room itself was ok, though the lack of AC meant having to open the door to the deck which seemed to be an activity for others in rooms near me, as frequently during the night you could hear the popping of latches and sliding of those doors - ie - it was a noisy process.

To sit on the toilet was a bit of a contortionist act if you didnt want the toilet roll hold digging into you and the show, which was almost ontop of the toilet presented other awkward challenges.

If i were there for business and the company i worked for was paying, i wouldnt care to much, but as a paying leisure traveler, i wasnt overly impressed, but to be fair, i wasnt overly impressed with the overall town either, so in this case its not a case of not going back to that hotel, i just simply would never go back to that town at all.

Stayed at Hotel Maritim for five days for a 70.3 Iroman event, booked through UK event organiser. Room size was large enough to allow for bike to be packed and unpacked with reasonable ease. Nice seating area with good TV and Wifi all over hotel, so made the hours pass easier. Shower excellent, food good with early brekfast on event day. Bed nice and firm, black out curtains and no noise. Great location with views over the Quayside and 100yds from the finish line. Tourist information in hotel ( & information centre ) could be better, as there are some good run/walk routes nearby that are un advertised. Food and especially wine not cheap, but then would stay here again.

Room Tip: Suspect we got a decent room as we booked thorugh Ironman organisers, as they may get preferential r...

Alright, the hotel has a perfect location, the employees gives alright service AND it's affordable. We paid 850 kroner i the middle of the tourist season, in July 2013. The rooms are quite small and seems kind of old, but some accessories gives you a better impression. It's a typical 4 star hotel, and so it says on the diploma in the lobby, signed by Tripadvisors excecutives.

My only problem is HUGE and I will never stay there again before this is fixed. When you go to the toilet, you want to be alone. Or are you an exhibitionist? You see, the door to the toilet is made of glass. Yes, it is frosted, so you can't look through it, but it has a big gap between the door and the frame, so you can have a peek into the bathroom. Not even for a single room I would find this alright, because I don't find it hygenic. I had a a double superior room with my wife. I'm not shy, but I want peace and privacy going to the toilet/bathroom. Especially since both the room and the toilet is very small and you can hear all noises. Crap!

Room Tip: ASK of a room without glass door to the bathroom.

After a long day travelling we came across this hotel on the quay side in Hausgesund. They have parking, but it's also public and small, so we were lucky to get a place. We felt the room price (with breakfast) to be reasonable. Free Wifi worked well. Not a lot of noise isolation between rooms, so if you have a noisy neighbour - good luck. Front-desk staff were excellent and the breakfast was quite ok.

Room Tip: Get a quieter room at the end of the corridor ?
