“Great food - best restaurant in Haugesund!”
Reviewed May 5, 2012

For a truly great dinner experience in Haugesund go with the 6-course menu at Lothes.

I visit this restaurant several times a year, with both customers, colleagues and friends.

I love the fact that they use local resources, and change the menu as the seasons change and the available resources change.

Lothes gives you a genuine taste of the very best food the west coast of Norway can deliver.

“lovely food, charming surroundings, but hideously expensive”
Reviewed September 14, 2011

The café here is usually buzzing at weekends, and they do a solid lunch, I'd recommend the fish burger.

The restaurant serves gourmet cuisine in a beautiful old wooden house from the mid 1800's. Low ceilings, very intimate and romantic. The food is good. The meny is extremely small, and changes seasonally. Everything is presented to a high standard, but at around 350 krone for a main course, you certainly don't feel you receive value for money. Don't expect anything extra here. Last time I was here for a birthday celebration, and whilst the staff did wish the celebrant a Happy Birthday, I would have expected them to at least have served up a drink/ dessert on the house.. The staff are all young and competent, but i feel that a restaurant claiming this calibre wold do well in having more mature, experienced staff, who are better trained in customer care. Best leave this place for business dinners, charged on an expenses account.

“Oh no...”
Reviewed August 22, 2011

Loved Haugesund, but all the basics wrong in this place, I'm afraid...had high hopes for it too based on the TA reports and local listings: massively understaffed, two waiters covering about 15 tables from what I could see; this included one poor lad who had food dotted all over his white shirt that had escaped the moorings of his trousers. No charm for compensation either. Mains (cod) was OK, but the starter (scallops) bland and not enough of them - hilariously phallic design on the plate too (see pic)! Big delays between courses...just overall ARG. And so..2 x courses; 1 x beer = E63. I know that Norway's expensive, but there was no value for money here..
