Visitors to Orta San Giulio will find a delightful place with many good cafes and restaurants. If they are prepared to be a little more adventurous, and take the 15 minute boat trip to Pella on the west side of the lake, they will be rewarded by a wonderful lunch at Ristorante Imbarcadero. Here tourists are rarer. Other diners are mostly locals - always a good sign. There is always a menu del giorno, with a couple of choices for each course at a (very reasonable) fixed price, but a la carte is also available. Excellent food, friendly & efficient service, together with a superb wine list. These, combined with a stunning lakeside location, make for an unmissable experience. The ferry leaves Orta SanGiulio just before noon and picks you up from Pella at around 3.30 - plenty of time for a lazy lunch and a stroll. As a bonus, the return trip incorporates a short tour of the lake - all for 4 euros return.
