The start of our amazing night at Sorrisniva began in Tromso. There we picked up a rental and drove for six hours through breathtaking fjords and villages. On arrival, we began a unique experience I will never forget. We started with a fantastic dinner in the hotel resteraunt. The meal could rival many relais and chateaux we have stayed at in france--Drive to the Middle of nowhere and there is a chef putting out all the stops. The reindeer is not to be missed. After several courses, we retired to the relaxation room and had the two chairs right by the fire. They gave me a supply of wood and we wiled away the time by the crackling fire waiting for the northern lights. Aroura activity was low that night for the lights but the hotel suggested were we could drive to see them. It was fun to speed through the countryside in the middle of the night chasing the Aroura. Several others were doing the same on the desolate roads. We found them close by, snapped some shots, and returned to the hotel for the night in the igloo. It's not warm, but just like sleeping in a tent in the winter. So we grabbed sleeping bags for the top of the reindeer skins and fought for some sleep, which eventually came. By morning, the sauna was steaming hot and I warmed up in there relaxing for a long while. Breakfast was excellent. We were lucky enough to be there when it was not full. Also after a certain point in the day, it seemed that the ice bar was open only to hotel guests. So if you stay, you get plenty of time to take great pictures without any crowds.

Room Tip: All rooms are the same except for the honeymoon suite.

This hotel is absolutely amazing and one of the most unique I've ever stayed in. I'm from South Florida and not used to the cold at all, so with the igloo being kept below zero, I was worried about being able to sleep here. It is freezing, but there are warm sleeping bags, blankets, and reindeer skins to keep you warm. It wasn't exactly the most comfortable night's sleep, but I survived! They have a great lodge, which is heated and is nice to relax in, especially if you want to escape from the cold. This is where your baggage is kept, and it's where the bathrooms are located. A couple negatives that made the review short of a perfect five- they advertise free Internet, yet when you ask reception for the password, they won't give you it until late at night because it's a "slow connection and they need to use it." Fair enough, but it should be advertised as so. Additionally, when the chef takes your dinner order, he will ask if there is anything you don't want included in your meal. I ordered a stew which included mushrooms, and when I asked for it not to have mushrooms, he said that wasn't possible. OK, well then I'm not sure why he even asked me. There are also a ton of guided tours and people on cruise excursions that are coming in and out throughout the day, so expect the bathrooms (only 4) to always have a wait and for there to be quite a crowd. All in all, though, it's such a unique experience and such a pretty hotel, I'd recommend anyone going to Norway to stay here for just one night. It's such a memorable experience!

Returned from Northern Lights cruise on 28th Feb.
Stunning trip with Lights "performing for 4 consecutive nights - simply magaical.
Ship is on the small side as compared to P&O, Carnival, etc., but still very nice.
Some attention to detail was missing - frayed table linen for example.
Entertainment crew worked very hard and deserve applauding - great shows.
Two of the guest appearances were a tad sad, but ......
Can recommend this ship.

Room Tip: As with previous reviews, the outside cabins are larger than inside, also coming with two double wardrobes and windows. Centre of ship are less prone to sway, which you do get with this being a smallish ship.

Well I wasn't encouraged to sleep over, even tho' the bridal suite did look inviting! Alas I wasn't a bride! Nonetheless the hotel is a work of genius in my opinion and something not to be missed if you journey to Alta. Everything is ice absolutely everything with the exception of reindeer skins hopefully which would keep one warm throughout the long cold night! The wedding chapel is delightful and the ice sculptures I was informed adopt a different 'theme' each year when the new ice hotel is built following it's spring time melt! This year's theme was fairy tales. Lovely and well worth the visit

Room Tip: They are all below freezing difficult to choose but for space it's got to be the bridal room

I cannot fault the way this hotel has been built and what the 2 owner/brothers have done to make it such a memorable experience. The staff were all exceptional, service excellent and the head chef cooks to die for. The evening dinner I could not fault .Ok , the bottle of Prosecco was £45 .....but all alcohol is expensive in Norway. You can go in the Ice Bar for after dinner drinks ...a 'blue igloo' will cost you 50 nok each. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice
We also took the evening snow mobile safari ......dont be put off just because it is in the dark as driving with headlights on through the trees was just as good as the daytime safari we took in Tromso ....and you may even see the Northern Lights at the same time.
You cant keep your clothes/luggage in your 'ice bedroom' as they would be as stiff as boards by morning ....but all this side of things is taken care of for you and you only sleep in the ice hotel section as you are wrapped up in Arctic sleeping bags and your thermals !
There are very modern showers (communal mens / ladies) , sauna and even an outside hot tub
This hotel is undoubtedly an experience that I am so glad I to have had and can highly recommend it especially as a last night to stay before returning home

Room Tip: All rooms are identical apart from a Bridal Suite
