“Disappointment with kids, probably much better on the adult's side”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

We spent a weekend at the hotel and visited the spa on Saturday. Our expectations were maybe a bit too high, since the overall experience was a disappointment. First, we queued for 15 minutes and the line seemed to stay the same throughout the day; there could have been faster entry for hotel guests. Also, there was no special pricing for hotel guests, i.e. one-day ticket. Instead, if we would have come again in the afternoon, it would have cost another 60 €.

As for the negative experiences, the locker rooms looked cheap with thin movable wall elements making "corridors". The water park itself was decorated very scarcely. The were only few water toys for the kids, of which parents "fought" whenever one was left behind.

On the other hand, the pool area with warm water was very nice and so were the water slides. The kids, however, enjoyed the experience, and they are probably the target group of the water park side. We did not visit the adults' spa side, but I was left with a feeling, that that side is much more luxurious and unique.

Thank You for Your visit in Flamingo Spa and for the response. It helps us to develop our services.

As a hotel guest it is possible to reserve a package that includes entrances for a couple to Spa & Wellness (age limit 20 years) or for a family to Waterpark. Then there is no need to queue. The bracelets (which open the gates and lock the locker) are given from the hotel reception and with them you can just walk in to Flamingo Spa. Sokos Hotel sales service helps with further information of these packages. Also it is possible to buy tickets and get the bracelet from the hotel reception even if you don´t have beforehand reserved package. In both cases there is special pricing for tickets.

One ticket is for one entrance to Flamingo Spa because there is no time limit for one visit. There are two restaurants inside the Waterpark and one inside Spa & Wellness to get to eat during the stay.

We have about 1200 lockers. This amount sets some requirements for the dressing rooms. They have to be safe and easy to keep clean. Of course it would be great to have unique atmosphere is the dressing rooms, too. The amount of water toys is also limited to this point to guarantee the safety in the pools. There can´t be too many toys because they could block the view from the lifeguards. For little children there is plenty of toys in the baby pool (0-30 cm deep).
I´m glad to hear that your children enjoyed their visit. As You said the Waterpark is for families and Spa & Wellness is for adults to have some peaceful and quiet time to relax.

I hope to see You again in Flamingo Spa.

“Great Value for the money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

Good place to go on a winter day in Helsinki Finland.

You can by just the water park side for a family with kids, You may also just want to buy the Spa side for just you and a adult friend for relaxation without the kids. You may also just want to book a treatment and get the Adult spa side for free. This was just a fantastic time to relax for a day and get out from the cold weather. The heath benifits were fantastic and the price was great.

The down side is that they do not marketing in English but the staff speaks good english and very helpful.

I hope they get the English paper work some day as it would have been great to bring back to friends and family.

The next time i am in that part of the world i will go back and do this again.

Hello, mj s!

It is great to hear that we have had visitors from the other side of the globe! And it´s also great to hear that you enjoyed visiting our Spa. We do have constant summer inside. The temperature of water and air is always +32 degrees! Our warmest pool is +37 ⁰ relaxation pool in adults Spa area.
We reformed our website and treatment menus in the end of 2012. The English version waits to be transferred to new website and menus. So we expect them to be ready in a few weeks.

We are looking forward to seeing you again in Flamingo Spa!

“Perfect spa-atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

Flamingo spa and water park is very nice. Especially the spa and wellness part, where the designers must have had limitless funding. It is very pretty, the decor makes the thoughts wander to Turkish baths or other eastern regions. The atmosphere is calm and nice, a perfectly relaxing place. Several different saunas, steam baths and even a silent salt room. Of the two pools, the mineral pool was my favorite, there is relaxing music playing under water!
The spa treatment facility is in top class condition, the staff is very friendly and also English speaking. I had a coffee body scrub that was superb! After a treatment you get to sit in a relaxing area that serves tea, fruits, and in Christmas times: glögi. They have reclined tile chairs/bench that are heated to a very comforting temperature.

The water park is fun with many slides that takes your breath away and one is particulary messing with your sense of up or down: the kamikaze. You sit in a rubber ring with helmet on, carried by the water in a dark tunnel that seems to do hundreds of turns before you are out in the pool again.

I recommend that if you are going on a saturday/sunday, come as early as you can, the place fills up to be full of children and their parents in the early afternoon. We came around 12, which gave us sufficient time to test everything without standing in long lines. Also, lockers are of various sizes, but locks with your wrist "ticket". And I'm not entirely sure, but you can possibly even use this electronic devise when buying food or drink, paying on the way out. I saw that many were paying for services and such on their way out of the facility, and it looked like the wrist "ticket" were the source of this payment. There is a "fast lane" to get out if you haven't purchased anything.

Thank You, 453Lisa for your review! It was very nice to hear that you enjoyed your visit to Flamingo Spa.

As you told, the Spa & Wellness is a place for adults to relax. It was designed by worldwide known spa specialist Paul Haslauer from Germany.

In the Waterpart whole family can have fun in slides and pools. The slide that you described is called Magig Maya. It is the longest slide in Northern countries by its 152 meters. It comes 12 meters down from the Maya tower.

You were right about the wristband. It is possible to load money or open a payment method with your credit card into it at the reception. Then you can pay food and drinks with the wristband in Café Maya, which is situated inside the Waterpark and Spa & Wellness. You can also pay Wellness treatments with it although we recommend making a treatment reservation before your visit and paying them in main reception.

We hope to see you again in Flamingo Spa!

“Great Water park for families”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

Flamingo Spa and Water Park is located near Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Its inside huge shopping centre called Jumbo. Actually its the biggest entertainment centre in Scandinavia.

Water Park has enough space to swim and it looks nice, it has a Latin-American feeling made by colours and lights. Theres water slides, hot baths, pool for small kids, pool for swimming or playing waterpolo. And pool for diving, which most kids like the best, when you can jump to water! With ticket you can swim as long you want to, even hole day.

Theres separated dressing areas to men and women. Go to shower before going to swim or to sauna. And theres Finnish sauna, where you cant wear swimming suit on. So you naked in sauna, but its just normal in Finland. Take to sauna a seat cover, you can take it beside sauna door. Sauna isnt too hot, so to you, who havent before been in sauna, its worth trying for. Its relaxing experience.

Spa and welness area is only for adults over 18 years. Theres many different kinds of saunas and pools for relaxing. And you can have some health treatmets there. With same ticket you can go to Spa and come to swim to Water Park.

You can spend easily hole day or weekend in Jumbo. Theres hotel, Spa area, bowling, movies, kids playing area, gym, lots of shops, restaurants, night club etc.

Thank You, Tiisi, for very accurate description of Flamingo, Flamingo Entertainment center and Jumbo Shopping center. These all together are one very large leisure resort.
The only thing I would like to mention about the Spa is that the age limit to Spa & Wellness area is 20 years. This is because we want to create a very peaceful enviromet for relaxing. Waterpark is open for everybody from the age of 0.
