Just arrived back from Paris where we spent five nights at the Radisson Blu charles de gaulle.
I would have to rate this hotel at a 3 to 3.5 star at best. The rooms are in need of update and if the hotel wants to return to a 4 to 5 star rating they've got quite a lot of work ahead .

The carpets need changing (they smelled a little funky) the bathrooms are in need of updating and the wood at the front desk was dingy and badly banged up. We found the staff to be professional, although I think they could loosen up and be more friendly. I really dislike it when service people fain snobbery! To be fair though this attitude was from only one staff member, Most employees behaved in a (Somewhat overly professional manner) a friendlier attitude would make the hotel stay better.

I suggest that people not use the restaurant as the prices are outrageous! I mean 18.00 euro for a hamburger? Come on!, There are no other restaurants near by and the hotel takes advantage of this fact. The restaurants only saving grace was their buffet breakfast (quite good) but make sure to have it included with your hotel stay otherwise they´ll hit you with a 20 euro per person bill.

The hotels shuttle runs well! It runs every 15 minutes to the airport on the am. 6-10 and every 15 minutes on the pm. from around 7-11 (Mid day schedule is) from 10 am to 7 pm it runs every 30 minutes. The schedule is reliable.

The reason we chose the hotel was (star rating and value for dollar) we were disappointed by the hotels neglect to maintain it´s supposed four/five star rating. Would we stay again? Probably not as we felt the quality plus service plus friendliness plus value... Just didn't add up.

I stayed there one night and I felt like If I were an artist, really nice place, big room and close to the airport. The recepcionist spoke spanish to explain me better everything. I was kind of sad to leave France, so Radisson was the best way to say goodbye to "La France".

The rain increased as we parked in the Radisson lot awaiting our return Sunday to the States. The "baggage staff" merely smiled and didn't offer a trolley as they were interested in taxi - arriving guests and not "tourist types," (Us). The check in desk makes TSA a breeze by comparison: a review of our billing - Oui, credit card - Oui, and the question of "Will you be dining with us tonight?" leaves something to be desired from French to English, while we formed puddles on the marble lobby floors (carpets are a bit threadbare).

One of the two electronic keys worked and upon entering, turned up the heat in the frigid room. After 25 minutes, it was no warmer, and a call to the desk solicited a response in French of "Are you sure? Incroyable!". 25+ minutes later, help arrived with a PLUG-IN HEATER, "Until we solve the problem!. " It is now 4:30 PM and time for a shower. As my wife turned it on, the hallway ceiling began to drip also. The "drip' continued and started to mimic the rainfall. A second call to the desk and another, "Incroyable!" The concierge arrived in 30 minutes to witness a flood and reached for the towels to no avail. He asked in a diplomatic manner if we "might prefer a different room?" We answered in our best French, "That is an Incroyable idea". He left and returned with news that the other 4 avails were in similar shape, and grabbed a piece of luggage with us following to the other wing and new room. (At least he tried his best).

Sunday 6:AM, still raining and checkout holds a further surprise. We are ready to surrender the keys. The clerk asks us if there were reasons to change rooms and my wife gave me the "Don't start" look. The clerk now asked if we wished to pay for the "secure parking fee" in euros or by card? Parking fee of 10E? Oui! There is no other area to park unless by the highway entry for 3 blocks and who would park there? Airport employees six minutes away by car? We paid this additional fee in order to exit the locked lot, no where mentioned at the desk at Check-in, etc.

Needless to say, a "Radisson Stay" will never be a priority in our next travel plans. As Bogie said, "Of all the gin joints in town......"

Room Tip: Look for another hotel in the area....other guests told us of similar experiences, and this is billed as a Top Star?

Overnight at CDG - chose this hotel because of Radisson reputation and its own shuttle bus. Shuttle from T2 worked fine. Disappointed to discover a lack of gym when checking in - hotel consolidator websites say that the hotel has a "fitness room" - it doesn't. How can you rate a hotel 4 stars without one? Result = 45 minutes exercise in the dark around the nearby industrial estate in persistent drizzle - lovely :-( Had dinner in the hotel - expensive, food "OK", restaurant staff pleasant and helpful. Room OK, probably great when newer but now very threadbare indeed. Best not to look too closely at carpet around corners and near bathroom door - not pretty.
Didn't do breakfast as in a hurry. Shuttle bus back to CDG was full, and driver went at quite a pace over speed bumps whilst talking on a cellphone which he held in his right hand throughout. This is both illegal and dangerous, and there's no excuse for it.
On balance, the hotel is something of a soulless experience. OK, but not appealing as a regular overnight stop when there are so many others to choose from.

Although this hotel was not close to the city, the staff at the hotel were fabulous. We ended up having train troubles and didn't get back from Paris until after the shuttle services were ended for the day... they came to the airport and picked us up at midnight - without questions - without hassles! We had a lamp in our room that didn't work properly... they were there within minutes to help alleviate the issue. The hotel was clean and just right for our stay. The breakfast was fabulous! When we come to Paris again, we will stay there... and only there!
