Our group was made up of 4 adults and two 6 year old girls. We had a great time and would recommend this hotel. We travelled this half term (tues 18th to sat 22nd feb '14). We had interconnecting rooms, which was a God send and our rooms were exactly what the pictures showed. Yes, the rooms look a bit tired when you start looking closely, but for what we paid, we can't complain. We were pleasantly surprised that the room and hotel was not as bad as some people appear to suggest (I will, however, come onto to the food and drink!). The room was cleaned daily.
Having read previous reviews, we took tea/coffee, mini UHT cartons, paper cups and snacks for the room. We forgot the travel kettle and were intending on renting one. However, check your room first, as we had one in each room, so that saved the 25 euro deposit. It was also a godsend when you get back after a long day.
Remember your hairdryer - there is none in the room! There is also a safe, so this took the worry out of leaving stuff around.
Checking in was fairly smooth running. They will ask you what time you want breakfast each day and give you a card, which will say from what time you can go into breakfast. Don't get hung up with this whole idea that you should eat breakfast really early. We mainly went down after 8.30 a.m. and it seemed to go in waves. On some occcasions we strolled in and on others there was a queue. On our last morning, we went in at 7.30 a.m. and this was the worst experience for seating and people. Breakfast is fairly basic but we did save a fortune by taking the rolls, ham and cheese out with us every day for lunch.
If you are at the stage of booking your trip, seriously consider whether you need to purchase the meal plan. It seems an expensive option and the majority of places appear to serve a buffet fully of chips, chicken wings, burgers, hotdogs and more chips. Don't expect to see a proper bit of fruit or vegetables if you stay local! Don't forget, the whole idea is to keep you tied to the Disney affiliated resturants. The worst night for food was the take away from the Saloon Bar on site. It is overpriced and the quality was poor. To give you an idea, 4 slices of basic cheese pizza was just under 10 euro, a pasta pot (similar to a snack pot) was around 8 euro and a hot dog was around 7 euros. The drinks are extortionate - two of the group learnt a hard lesson when they bought a bottle of Gallo red wine from the Bar at a cost of 24 euros!!!!!
Our advice would be explore elsewhere. There is a large supermarket (Auchan) at the Val de Europe shopping centre (lower level). We stocked up on wine, snacks etc for the room and lunch. Also at the other end there are quite a few good resturants. We ate at a lovely Italian (main course/dessert/drink 15 euro per adult and lovely child menu for 6 euro).
To get to Val de Europe you can hop on the train right outside the Disney Park entrance and it is a 5 minute walk to the shopping centre (ask when you exit) or find the bus stop with the buses going this way. Look for the bus that is going to Hotel L'Esyee, as the entrance is right opposite! Both of these ways bring you to the Shopping Centre entrance nearest to the Supermarket and you need to walk to the opposite end to find the resturants.
We also took the train into Paris for one of the days. You need to pay the ticket that covers zones 1 to 5 (similar to a travel card). It cost 22 euro for adult and half for the kids. There were some amazing deals for resturants there.
Hope the above helps for those planning or going. We had a great time. We will end this review by saying that Hotel Tower of Terror and Crush Roller coaster were probably not the best rides for six year olds! Both were very, very, very scary and you may need to take a change of underwear!!!!
