“Monti Paulis - a wonderful place to stay and eat”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

My best memories of our seven week trip throughout Italy is of Genoni and our stay at Monti Paulis with our wonderful host Adriano. The accommodation for our family of four was in modern individual cottages near the restaurant with the stables and the small horses of the Giara just outside our window. We all agreed that the best breakfasts we had in Italy were at Adriano's overlooking the beautiful rolling hills of Sardinia or observing the hunting parties as they chased wild boar through the nearby bush.

The meals at the restaurant are the stuff of legend with meat cooked in front of you on the open fire and local wines and grappa flowing freely. The value for the multi course meal is unbelievable, even for Italy.

I cannot recommend the accommodation and restaurant at Monti Paulis highly enough. With a host such as Adriano who is fiercely proud of his home town, his region, local produce & cuisine, you can't go wrong.

“Out of the way but well worth finding”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

What a find. We prebooked the “fish” menu (a “meat” menu was also offered) and were overwhelmed. There were four in our party. We were given 8 antipasti, each of which was enough for 4 people, then an excellent spaghetti with clams and langoustines, followed by sea bass stuffed with jumbo prawns, which, by that time, only two of us could manage. Next time we will select our menu when we arrive since the standard offering is far too much, but so hard to resist. The house wines were more than adequate as an accompaniment. It is a little way out of Genoni but well worth the effort of getting there. At about 30 euros a head it was really great value for money. I believe they are in the Slow Cooking Movement and it shows in the quality of the food and service.
