The area north of the Daintree is known for it's unspoiled rain forests & beaches and this home stay is located in one of the most beautiful and convenient parts of it. The home is nicely fitted out, comfortable & relaxing. Mine host, Marion, is easy going, very helpful with local info, bookings etc and inobtrusive so it's easy to to unwind and relax, which is why we booked there in the first place. We booked for 4 nights in August 2012 but extended to 6. Highly recommended A & C

It was a wooden cottage in the middle of jungle. We wished we had stayed longer. It was a very beautiful place with large window/doors opening to the beautiful garden that you could spend hours just staring at or relaxing with your book. The bed was very comfortable and we could hear birds singing the whole night. Marian was very lovely and friendly and willing to make our stay in rain forest as lovely as possible.

From the moment you turn down the steep slope, over the bridge then up to the house you realise this is no ordinary B&B. It is a beautifully built wooden guest house set in a garden in the Daintree rain forest, peaceful and original.
The standard of accommodation is high there are two rooms which share a very large communal area all is themed around natural wood.
The owner is helpful and knowledgeable, the breakfast made to your request includes fruit salad made from home grown fruit eg lady finger bananas I thoroughly recommend it

When you get to the B&B in Cow Bay you definetely feel like being in a jungle, which is great. The house is very special, you can basically open all the side walls like windows and so have a great view into the beautiful garden, with nice flowers and butterflies. You can also enjoy this while relaxing in the hammock which is placed directly in front of these walls. We especially want to point out the breakfast with tropical, exotic fruits and a fresh juice which is a perfect start for the day in the humid climate.
Cowbay Homestay is only a few minutes walk from the beach which is beautiful and really nice to walk on and look for wild animals.
We enjoyed our stay here a lot and Marion gave us many good tips what to do and what is worth seeing.

We had a 2 day stay with Marion and Brian and it was relaxing and in beautiful surroundings, but we were disappointed by some things. The gardens around the B and B are just a paradise. The bedrooms were lovely, clean and Marion's breakfast was wonderful. But we stayed in late February and whilst Marion says they don't need air conditioning as the fans and layout of the building allow air circulation, all 4 of us disagreed. Probably that’s why people don't often go to Cape Trib at that time of year (other times are cooler and so would be more comfortable). It was a choice to stay hot or open up the building and face the biting insects. Bring lots of insect repellent when you stay in the rainforest!. Even with the fans on and all doors/windows open we were very uncomfortable and thankfully the rain started the first night so it got a bit cooler otherwise none of us would have slept. Our other disappointment was that Marion smoked in the building (it is her house after-all) but all 4 of us are non-smokers and would have preferred a smoke free environment. Marion and Brian were great hosts however and even came to get us from the local pub/restaurant when the rain got so heavy that a tree fell down on the route back to their B and B.

Thank you for your compliments on our house and gardens. Summer in the tropics can be hot and humid and we may underestimate the natural discomforts of a wet season. Some of the bigger resorts here are operating on generator power and do offer aircondtioning in their rooms. I hope you will visit the North again during a cooler time of the year.
