“Don't hesitate, excellent B&B”
Reviewed May 23, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I have just stayed at this B&B and it was excellent. We are on our honeymoon and I had booked accom at Cape Tribulation that ended up being so diabolical that we cut our financial losses and left without spending more than an hour there. We then had a, "what do we do now?" moment and headed back towards Port Douglas. We saw a little street sign pointing to a B&B so we nervously followed it. The B&B at the end of the 'yellow brick road' was Epiphyte.

We were greeted amiably by host Kathy who showed us around the place. Our situation was a little tricky given we had our 11 month daughter with us but Kathy happily discussed the logistics of where to bath bub and get organised. As it turned out, the venue was perfect! We could relax in the communal lounge area while bub slept happily in the bedroom.

We found the facilities to be perfect for what we were looking for. The communal deck - with an awesome outlook over the nearby mountain range - facilitates the congregation of guests and the bedrooms are reasonably spacious. The continental breakfast was a good start to the day and, again, allowed story-swapping between guests.

We found this place virtually by accident, but would enthusiastically recommend the venue and the hospitality of Kathy & Brad to anyone.

We stayed for about week with my mom and my auntie in november 2012. it was great, awesome tropical fruit breakie everyday, wonderful hosts, very helpful. Christina and Peter you are the best :) Comfortable, clean rooms, it was nice to have our own balcony too. Not to mention the good pricing, we stayed 6 days do we had one night free! If I go back to Daintree I will stay there again for sure! It was such a relaxing and agreable place that it was hard to leave!

I'd booked it for a couple of days and ended up staying nearly a week....I just couldn't move on! A great place to chill

Kathy, Brad and Brendan, their son, were wonderful hosts with lots of local knowledge, including flora and fauna ~ I didn't get to see the cassowaries that visit them regularly but that's only because they happened to come when I was out!

You'll find lots of interesting things to do in the area, which Kathy and Brad can organise if you want, and sometimes get you a discount.
And I really can't recommend the Coopers Creek Rainforest tours enough ~ check them out...

A very magical place....now if Epiphyte was in Coopers Creek, that really would be heaven.

Was put onto the Epiphyte by a mate who had been there before. Was quietly impressed. Would love to go back and see more of the sights as others who were there said they really enjoyed their day trips (I just needed some time to relax and spent most of the time reading). Very friendly and social. The managers looked after me well and the rooms were very clean and neat, without being 'spartan'. A great escape from it all. Will definitely go there again soon to do more of the adventure stuff.
No complaints!

Room Tip: The larger rooms looked fantastic value for the little bit extra. The cabin was stunning - my choice...

I had not consulted trip Advisor regarding Daintree accommodation in advance and felt I would be in very basic accommodation for New Year for $75 a night. As per previous reviews the breakfast and laid back but thorough hospitality were very welcome . So tranquil and no TV....really what i needed after 7 days in a Resort at Port Douglas. This home is timber and timber ceilings etc. We went in December and found the garden and natural creek fabulous. This is easily acessible for normal sedans and Daintree forest with cassowaries . It is extremely good value and within 1 km to Crocodylis where many walks and kayaking leave from.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to room 3 . It is apparently bigger. All rooms have ensuite.

This little gem nestles in the Daintree Rainforest amongst the casowarys, golden orbs and other unique delights of the area. The atmosphere is friendly, laid back and at one with the surroundings. A perfect place to kick back and take in all the amazing sights and sounds that this part of the world has to offer.

The accommodation is comfortable, and reasonably priced. Do not miss the amazing rainforest fruit breakfasts! Delicious....

The hosts are very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable about the area. They can put you in touch with local tours of the great barrier reef, crocodile sighting, rainforest walks and talks and trips to the local discovery centre, and a lot more besides.

This was a trip of a lifetime for us, and The Ephiphyte was the perfect place to base ourselves from.

Room Tip: We stayed in the self-contained cottage in the grounds - gave us privacy when we wanted it, and clos...

Thank you Polly for your review. It was lovely to meet you and your family and great that you had enough time to 'see the sights' AND just relax and enjoy the serentiy of the Daintree rainforest. Hope to see you all here again one day. Best wishes for your future travels!

A breath-taking view of Mount Thornton from an open air (but under cover) dining area enveloped by the sounds and sights of the Daintree. The new managers keep the house spotless and the fecund garden at bay. They'll show you the local fauna and flora from the deck if you like. There's a healthy breakfast with real fruit and coffee, as well as books, pamphlets and recommendations from the locals to help you maximise your stay. You can throw anything at them - even a boy in a wheelchair- and they'll do their best to accommodate you. September was perfect - swimming in the sea at Cow bay and Cape Trib, warm but not too humid. Why confine yourself to Hotel Monoculture when you can experience far Northern Queensland like this?
